[ Once the decisions have been made, everyone is ushered—though those gentle tugs—out their respective mud rooms into the courtyard. An impossibly tall and incredibly dense garden hedge divides one half of the courtyard away—moreover, it increasingly gets taller when climbed, preventing its residents from escaping their slice of the courtyard. From beyond, idols can hear the distant sounds of something rumbling—perhaps it's the ground shaking. . .

The roster is visible on a large screen, though as time progresses, certain names are blacked out. . . ]

[ Mouths and Hands will be able to transform into monsters at-will, though Hands are much more diminutive and Mouths have supernatural abilities at their disposal. Moreover, unit abilities are on. ]

[ After a few more much-needed deaths, she's run out of strength. The potency of her blood lets her body burn a lot of energy in a very short time, too short, and then it simply fails. Busy dragging herself by one bloodied arm around the floor, she collapses nearby, half-blind eyes trying to focus on what's in front of her. ]

[ It's the wings that strike her oddly. She can't put her finger on it, can barely think, but she knows that those are familiar (she can't remember why yet, and even if she had those memories returned to her, right now she couldn't be sure). She reaches out, her hand weak and shaking. ]

[The dragon hurries to her side, nuzzling gently at her hand. She looks half-dead, exhausted, and it remembers that she was the person he was most concerned for in this situation.]

[ She very lightly scritches at whatever part of it did the nuzzling, even smiling very slightly. At least this hand is clean, having held her rope dart for most of those fights -- something like seven of them by now. ]

I wasn't sure... you'd be here. [ She's perpetually out of breath in this state. ] Sorry you... have to see this.

[It's not her fault, and it was warned that the games could be like this. It's more worried for her right now as it mewls plaintively.]

Don't sound like that. [ She manages a few more pets before her hand needs a rest, so it hits the floor. ] But maybe... come closer? I'm cold.

[It cuddles up close to her, gently licking her hand.

...It probably won't eat her like this, but it does think about it for a second.]

[ Hey, if anyone could understand cannibalism it's the vampire. She hasn't been eating, herself, which is the whole problem really. But she doesn't want to go on as the rampaging beast she's been since her unit's Heart went down, so here she is. ]

Thank you. [ She pauses, her eyes threatening to fall shut. ] I'm lucky, you know. I woke up long enough to throw those fights. Otherwise...

[ There was clearly more, but she needs a moment to catch her breath. ]

[This form is good for pets, but not great for carrying on an actual conversation - so after a few seconds, Doctor's form twists and shifts into something more human-shaped.]

You did as best you could, under the circumstances.

[ She looks as surprised as she can under these circumstances; which is to say, mildly. ] The best I could do was keep a hold on myself without being bled most of the way to death.

[ Trying to look him over briefly, but she gives up damn quick. ] You okay?

[ Her hand sort of looks like it wanted to do something before giving up. Nothing to pet :< ]

I'm alright. My seniors wouldn't let me take any of the burden of hunting for my first game, so when I was targeted 'twas over quickly, unfortunately.

[Lightly, he reaches over to take her hand and put it in his soft and fluffy hair. Pets continue, please.]

[ Very well, pets will continue until morale improves, which isn't likely to happen, or until she drops dead, which is much more probable. She runs her fingers through his hair, slow and gentle (which is all she can manage just now). ]

You fought someone you know?

A stranger. She didn't even appreciate my warning about the health risks of eating brains, which is very rude of her, really.

[He sounds genuinely put out. It was important advice!]

[ She cracks a little smile and coughs, just once (it might have been a laugh normally). ] How are you getting me to smile right now?

She might be used to it. Some people have endured this for months.

Natural charm, ohoh.

[He'll take it, if he can make someone he's fond of smile. It isn't enough to keep her safe - nothing is - but it's something.]

Being used to torture is no excuse to neglect one's health. I've been thinking of making pamphlets.

[ She lolls her head so it bumps his leg. ] I'll help you think of clever names when I'm not bled white.

[ She tries to nod, but her expression fractures. She's too exhausted to hide very well. ]

I don't now if I can do it again.

...But there's no one else on your team who can hunt, and someone must go. Is that it?

Yes. And I'm the best fighter on my unit.

[ A fact she's normally proud of, but it comes out rather heavily. ]

I don't mind the fights, but... losing control and hurting people is my worst nightmare.

I would offer to eat you, but I doubt my unit will let me hunt for my first game. ...Moreover, I'm not the best with unpalatable food.

[Which she would be, as a Mouth.]

Unpalatable. [ She huffs weakly ] Honestly. [ Her tone suggests he'll pay for that one. ]
