It's a very exciting task placed before us!
Everyone likes games...though not everyone like puzzles. Though I can't say I'm surprised. This seems like the sort of thing our dear F would enjoy!
It's an entertaining thought exercise. Would it be best to choose the path most would assume safest? Or to do the opposite, as that's what people would be expecting? Or perhaps, to trap both to inflict doubt with the first decision made, guiding their thoughts for the next decision more?
Without knowing our opponent, it's tough to say. Splitting the difference and inflicting doubt might be wise for a first round. Then again...we could play one way in the first round and then flip the script on the next? Alcheme is an unpredictable team, isn't it?

As the puzzle master of our little troupe, I'll trust F's expertise.

What better way is there to great someone than with a horse, of course.
Then it would be best to place it where it must be traversed in order to proceed. Right in front of the first objective, perhaps?
