[ There is one sentence in the rules when you wake up. ]

Escape the mansion and bring evidence of the one responsible for this incident, or die trying.

[ For as long as the game is running, idols will only be able to access the rules on their phones. They may not text/call, nor may they take pictures.

Unit abilities are off. Items are off. Each idol can hold up to 3 items at a time maximum. ]

[ The room's stench is the first thing you notice upon waking up: it's an unpleasant mix of incense, smoke, and metal. Although the room is poorly lit, the light from the standing torches show that the room is quite big…and quite crowded.

Not with living people, of course. You find yourselves surrounded by corpses, mutilated beyond recognition. Vaguely humanoid shapes and limbs indicate these used to be humans, probably…?

The metal smell is more easily identifiable as blood, now—though even if you could not make the connection, the floor is sticky with pools and rivers of red, so it's quite easy to tell that these—people?—met their end right here. In the dim light, it seems like the blood flows more easily than blood rightfully ought to.

Yet, you won't find even a drop of blood on yourself, or even near your body. In fact, the carnage is absent on both your clothes as well as the ground immediately surrounding you, which is just as well because the blood would have otherwise obfuscated the white-chalked summoning circle that surrounds the idols.

You're situated in the center of the room. You can hear running and dripping water in the distance. A button sits on a pedestal nearby - it reads “RESET”.
Against the north is what looks like a map - of what, you can’t tell from where you are.
To the east you can see…water? Blood? pooling at the base of the wall.
Against the south is a table, with an oil lantern and various other objects sitting on it.
Against the west wall is a closed wooden door. ]

It seems your arrival was not entirely without injury, however: the second they stand up, there's a sudden PFT noise from one of the walls and Valor finds themself struck in the neck by a blowdart.

The dart doesn't go deep enough to cause any real harm, but the wound does feel sort of numbing...for now.

As time progresses, the idol will begin to exhibit the following symptoms:
Weakness/numbing of limbs
Fever/chills
Dizziness/mind fog
Difficulty moving or staying awake, sluggishness

[Valor jerks a little with the force of the dart, groping at where it hit his neck, and reflexively throwing it back at where he guesses it came from. it sticks to the wall, quivering.]

Shit. Fuck. I bet that sucker was poisoned. Because why the fuck wouldn't it be, in this shit hole?

[Valor seems completely untroubled by the piles of corpses and pools of blood and so forth, rubbing at the little numb spot where the dart hit him. He seems mostly interested in the summoning circle.]

The fuck is this for. Sorcery?

[he waggles the fingers he was using to feel the wound at her; there's only a little bit of blood smeared on them. see? nothing to worry about.]

It's just a little numb, so we better get moving before it gets worse. Unless you wanna try to figure this shit out while hauling my corpse around?

[ The map seems to be a map of...not the entire building, but at least this room, the hallway past the wooden door, and the room the hallway connects to? It shows the rooms in profile, from the side, so it's not actually particularly helpful.

Notably, though, the hallway seems to connect to the next room in such a way that there's a very significant drop - in other words, the room after the hallway seems inaccessible without falling to one's death.

Also, this room seems a lot bigger on the map than it actually looks. To the east is a ledge that you don't actually see when looking in that direction. Above the ledge is what seems to be some kind of cistern. ]

[ On the table is an oil lamp. There is also a book, some rags, and a crowbar. ]

[grabbing the crowbar, oil lamp, and rags. who knows maybe it'll come in useful.

and then flipping through the book, both to get an idea of the content, but also looking for any identifying marks - handwriting, a name, whatever.]

[ It seems to be some kind of dairy? The handwriting is...frantic. It's mostly a bunch of character essays about people you've never heard of, but some of whom seem to be described as if they were on BAD END=DEAD END? Later pages include various occult diagrams, apparently sourced from the internet, including a summoning ritual for precious things. The last few pages just repeat the words "I LOVE THEM" over and over again until the writer runs out of room. ]

poking at a couple corpses to see if they have some intact clothing that he could use to identify them somehow, even if the bodies unrecognizable.]

[ The corpses are very corpse-like, and while they are in fact completely unidentifiable their clothing doesn't seem to indicate they'd have been members of BAD END=DEAD END, or really, any unit. These just seem to be complete randoms.

Nearby a corpse that looks as non-notable as the rest is a chainsaw, which seems to have been freshly used. ]

[ You punch the wall SO HARD it slides forward and lodges itself in an indentation at the end of the newly opened corridor. The block settles in deep enough that it now acts as a step to the previously unseen ledge just above the indentation.

The top of the corridor contains a system of pulleys which seem to move as the block does - and now you know where the water is coming from, because it was trickling down the walls of this new corridor but is now streaming down at a rapid pace, slowly filling the room. ]

[he doesn't know what a chainsaw is but he's going to go out on a limb here and guess that it was used on the corpses....

anyway, off to join Mercy at the map now]

the lighting in here is dim, so it's a little hard to be sure, but he seems a little flushed, as if a fever were setting in.]

The door seems to be a dead end, so I was looking for a different way.

Yeah, well, looks like you fucking found it. I found, uh... the book's a diary. Looks like some crazy fan decided to fuck around with sorcery. Summoning.

[ditching the oil lamp and rags to take the book instead, since. the room is now starting to flood, apparently?]

Let's get out of here before we fucking drown or some shit.
