And that's why I'm here. [ sets a hand on their head. ] I don't think they necessarily need to be afraid of it. Maybe they can enjoy it, like me, but... perhaps they'll figure that out themselves. In the meantime, I do think combat is something we should figure out how to teach them. If they do encounter something or someone and we're not there I don't want them getting hurt.
...and that's one thing that separates us. I'm not afraid of what can kill me. The things that can kill me are what excite me. But I will say that, yes, managing fear is important. Being able to still act while under extreme duress IS important, because if you can't act, then... [ you may die. ]
Mm, true, but what I don't really appreciate is our robot taking all of that to heart without a second though. It may not know better, but life is more than all of the negativity the other one dumped on it.
Friendship isn't stealing anything. Its sharing. Letting people into our hearts and souls, letting them see ourselves, that's all apart of finding happiness in life.
[He holds out a hand to Luna.] Humanity isn't just about suffering. Its apart. We can only suffer because we crave for more, and we can only crave for more because we don't want the lack.
If you're lonely, its because you want people in your life.
You can have that, Luna, you just have to let people in.
Re: DISCUSSION
....maybe we should get this robot a friend too.
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
We should give them both a name.
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
They could be friends. Then neither one is lonely.

Re: DISCUSSION
[Hand on shoulder.]
If you're doing that, only in the bathroom with the creepy mannequinn, not because someone is lonely and needs help.

Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
Fight impulse without a dose of fear is a bad idea unless someone is real good at fighting and our robot child is made of cardboard.
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
Lack of fear isn't good to teach. How to manage that fear is.
And combat has its uses, yeah, but not when the violence is directed at someone whose said something upsetting because they're hurting.

Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
I suggested two, earlier ... Luna and Selena. Would that work?
Re: DISCUSSION
If we use both, then they have a connection and don't have to be lonely.
They could even be siblings. Adoptive siblings.
Re: DISCUSSION
And then we can go find things that'll help our baby bot feel less ... scared and lonely, maybe.
Re: DISCUSSION
Luna, I know you've been lonely. Would you like to be friends with WCt#50001, AKA Selena?
Re: DISCUSSION
The robot continues to smile to you.
"I am already human. Do humans need names?"
Re: DISCUSSION
Because people need names. Its how we can talk to and about each other. Names help us become unique and how our friends can think of us.
Re: DISCUSSION
The robot smiles.
"Do not steal my humanity. It is mine. I have acquired it. It is mine."
