Humanity....personhood, its about connection. To others, to the world, to everything. So much of what any person does is rooted in that desire to be a part of something.
It's about coming together, it's about conflict, it's about always trying your best, although, it's important to remember to be kind to yourself, too. Sometimes you're tired, or hurt, or scared, and you can't put your best foot forward. That's okay. It's human to need to rest, and to share the burden with others.
Sometimes its finding connection where you thought there was none. A stranger, an enemy, someone who you look into their eyes and you see something like yourself.
To have family and friends, people who care about you, and people you can care about. To have joy and comfort, to have love or competition, sometimes both. The ways you can make someone else's day better or have someone bring light to you.
It's about finding ways to share with other people, whether it's fun things, or sad things, or serious things — and more, and everything in between.
But its not just the good and the gentle. Sometimes its about having that person you want to beat or destroy. Sometimes its about a good fight, a challenge, to be pushed to being something new.
Sometimes its about the lack. The lack of connection and the pain that causes. The suffering of no connection, and there you either find the strength to go forward, to fix it, or to give up. But its always better to keep going, because part of being a person is that life is ever changing. Circumstances always change and things can get worse, but they can also get better.
And humanity is about choosing it for yourself, even if it gets taken away from you. Being alone, stuck with yourself, to be alone and despair is part of it. It's not easy but part of being human is accepting the full messy breadth of who you are, but its worth doing.
Being human, being a person, its a lot. It's about learning anything and everything. As much as you can, really, and then taking all of that and teaching it to those around you. Sharing. And finding something that sparks a drive in you, and running with it. A goal or goals to work toward as you lead you life is fulfilling.
To be a person is to have connection to the world and those around you, or to feel the lack of it, and to let those experiences change you and let you grow
