START: Pentagram Room

There's something just a little creepy about this room. Maybe it's the amnesia? Or maybe it's got something to do with the huge chalk pentagram you woke up in the middle of. The pentagram is surrounded by a ring of twenty eight candles in black and gold banana-shaped candleholders. The flames send the shadows in the otherwise dark room dancing ominously.

There's a wooden door to the East. For now, it's locked; there's nothing you can do to make it budge.

THE CHASM

You enter a room split in two by a huge, jagged Chasm, spanned by the (very) rickety old remains of what (probably) used to be a wooden bridge. Do you have a head for heights and a daring heart? Because you might need both, if you're going to get across this.


Something chitters softly in the darkness way, way up above.


There's one door to the West side, and one to the East.

Anyone attempting to cross needs to roll 1D10.

✑ If 1-3: You fall, down, down, down into the darkness ...

✑ If 4-7: chitter chitter chitter chitter a HUGE VAMPIRE BAT the size of a dog swoops down at you, its gaping, salivating maw held wide!

✑ If 8-10: You make it safe and sound to the other side.

You enter the Underground Lake! The water is cold and dark, and it's impossible to say where it comes from, or how deep it must be towards the middle. The only light comes from glowing iridescent moss growing up the cavern walls.


If you fell from the Chasm … congrats on the tremendous splash you just made! That might have hurt, though you'll be glad to know that you didn't break anything. Hopefully you can swim.

If you came down the stairs … welcome!

On the bright side, at least he can, in fact, swim. And he can even drag somebody up to the surface and keep them there! Which is what's probably happening to Lucifel rn since they were holding hands.]

BASEMENT LANDING

You enter the Basement Landing.

There's not much here except … coal. Piles upon piles upon piles of coal, the floor caked in a thick coating of ash and soot. It's spectacularly filthy.

There are doors to the North, South, and West, and … a set of closed elevator doors? to the East.

CAVERNOUS STAIRCASE

You enter the Cavernous Staircase, which seems to have been hewn from the very rock itself. They're incredibly steep, and unfortunately lacking in railings. You hear a steady, incessant, unceasing, disconcertingly echoing drip drip … drip drip … drip drip …

There are two exits: West down the stairs, or East at the top of the stairs.

OFFICE

You enter the Office. There is a desk strewn with stuff: a haphazard pile of notebooks, a few newspaper clippings, a half completed crossword puzzle, and a sudoku grid that was clearly filled in with pencil, failed spectacularly, and then erased to try again.

You'll also find a coffee mug filled with frigidly cold black coffee … and another one, almost empty. And another one, half full. And another one; two big gulps would've finished it off. A mostly full bag of gummy bears. A black robe flung over the back of the spinny office chair, with a pair of rubber gloves hanging out of the pocket.

Against one wall is a counter with a kettle, a pot of coffee grounds and a sink. Beneath the counter is a fridge.

There is one door.

STOREROOM

You enter the Store Room. It's kinda dusty in here, albeit nowhere near as bad as the Landing you just came from. And, honestly? Despite the name, there's not a whole lot in here. Sitting on top of three old wooden crates are three potted plants: a cactus, a tomato plant, and a short, thick blue stalk. The latter wiggles vaguely. Set into the back wall is a grand old mirror with an ornate golden frame.

The only door is the one you came through.

ELEVATOR

You enter the Elevator, which is a little on the cramped side. Or rather, a lot on the cramped side. It smells strongly of damp.

To the left of the door is the control panel:

ENTRANCE HALL

You are in the Entrance Hall. It's big and fancy, with high vaulted ceilings, polished oakwood flooring, lots of intricate detailing here, there, and everywhere. A huge chandelier provides decent lighting.

To the South is the front door, a solid work of wood and iron, with four keyholes. It is very much locked and completely impassable no matter how hard you try. To the left of this door is a set of coat hooks, all empty, and an umbrella stand, which is not empty. To the East is a door, to the North is the Foyer, and to the West is the elevator.

FOYER

You enter the Foyer. Tucked into an alcove is a statue of a boy and girl trading whispers.

There is one door to the East, and one door to the West.

There is a staircase through an open archway to the North and the Entrance Hall is open to the South.

GYMNASIUM

You enter the Gymnasium.

One half of the floorspace is dominated by a sizable swimming pool, filled with clean, warm (chlorinated, of course) water. The second half has tread machines, stationary cycles, a rack of weights, and a set of three lockers.

KITCHEN

You enter the Kitchen, which is shiny and chrome. It's ultra modern. There's a fridge freezer, drawers filled with cutlery and plates — everything you could want, unless you want sharp knives — and six large larder-style cupboards. The space is otherwise dominated by a huge range oven and stove, upon which there is an oversized stockpot.

There is a door to the West and a door to the South.
