Wednesday... [ he immediately goes over to her and takes a seat to her side, hesitant to wind an arm around her shoulders, though he eventually does to try to comfort her. ]
It's a lot to deal with all of a sudden, but you're here and you're brave too. [ eases up on her and sits back on his haunches to give her a smile. ] We'll figure this out together. Was there anybody you'd like to protect?
I'm not, Yugi. I-- don't think I can be brave at all--
[Her chest heaves. It's hard to get the words out.
[At least she can still wipe at her eyes.]
I don't even know where to start. There's too many people, already... and I shouldn't just want to save them because I like them! What about all the others?
It's alright. I wasn't so brave during my first game, but out unit is full of some amazing people, so if you can't be brave right now, then we'll be brave for you.
[ he wishes he had something to offer her. ]
I bet. You were really putting yourself out there, huh, making all sorts of amazing friends. Like Sunset said, peppep is generally well liked, so maybe we don't have to worry too much. As for the others, we can all talk about it and see how everybody feels.
[She hugs him, resting her head on his shoulder again - just for a second, just to know that he's really there.]
And... and to think I was scared about fighting people! I - how do we do this? Protect our friends? Or... or some other group? Somebody nobody else might think of? Because if we don't--
[ he's not going to move in case she needs to be grounded again. this is a pretty terrible game to have gotten called for. ]
I don't really know. [ it seems a few of their unitmates had played in a game similar to this, though the rules have changed slightly. ] That's definitely something we could do. It's hard trying to get into some of the heads of the other units, because if we just knew who they were voting for... [ it'd make this a lot easier. ] we could make sure everybody was saved...
If we'd only known about this beforehand... I mean, it would be difficult, but... maybe we could make some kind of a deal? Find a unit we're close to and promise to protect - but that wouldn't be far on them either, would it? If one of them had someone they liked more - say it was a boy they liked... they'd probably be unhappy, wouldn't they, that they had to protect us instead?
Yeah. This game would have been a lot easier if we were given the time beforehand to prep, but that's probably part of the reason why they didn't give us that much. They want us under the gun, so to speak. [ or under the collar in this case??? ] I don't think fair is something we're going to be able to accomplish here, bad as that sounds. [ because even when we win we lose. ]
[ gently nudges her. ] Are there any boys you've taken a liking to, Wednesday?
