War Rooms: future is now

[This room might be a nice, slightly whimsical surrounds to talk things over in, if it weren't for the collars and countdowns on your phones. ]

I've had allies before. Unfortunately, the one person here I know from before doesn't know me, and "enemies" would be a more accurate description, in any case.

Your "business partner" did offer to work with me, if it turns out I'm not a spy from Hell.

I don't think either are likely to be relevant here.

Probably not.

And it sounds like you don't have an opinion on who we should save.

Assuming this is only the setup for a longer game, my opinion would be to pick a unit whose gratitude would be helpful in the future.

And how do you go about picking that?

Besides a unit that doesn't think they're going to be saved.

A unit that wouldn't expect to be saved by us specifically, but who'd still believe it as a personal choice rather than an arbitrary one. Someone likely to repay it in kind.

I can't think of a single unit that would expect to be saved by us. So then it's more of what unit can we pick that will take being picked by us favorably. So the kind that doesn't have those kinds of strong bonds and gets picked by multiple units, but would also not want to leave a debt unpaid.

Correct. I'll rely on you to judge who that might be.

...Well, I'll only submit Lilis as an option.

Really? Why that unit?

That's where my "enemy" is. But she doesn't think of it that way, currently. She's unsure of our relationship, and if she should be relying on me, as someone who knows more about her than she does. And she's convinced she wants to be a good person who doesn't hurt people.

. . . So you want to do it as some weird form of manipulation because you have memories and she doesn't.

It's not a "weird form of manipulation." It fulfills the simple criteria. It would be unexpected, she'd be grateful, and she'd feel the need to return the favor.

So you do take offense to it being called that. Good to know. Your vote is noted.
