[It's time for a new an exciting place, right? A land of adventure and fun and excitement!

Wait? Then why does this look like Tokyo-F. Like a Tokyo-F that has seen better days.

A dark purple haze has settled over the city, thick and suffocating, oppressive and heavy. The sky above is filled with yawning teeth and blinking eyes stare back at you. Buildings lie in tatters and their remains litter the landscape.

A few proud buildings still stand tall! The most prominent one among them - THE GAME TOWER. Though it is sporting more of an evil villain castle vibe than you remember. And it certainly used to be taller and not leaking out that purple smoke filling the air. Nonetheless it stands as a beacon in the city, the focal point in the ruin around you.

A voice echos in your head. "Find the Dark Master."

GAME START!]

[okay yeah uh grabbing him also, pulling in the opposite direction of the floormonster.]

[ This is not dignified or heroic, but he lets himself fall if only because it gives him at least some leverage to try and kick free. It's also strategic in the sense that he's not sure how much he'd be on his feet right now anyway. There is a zombie and it is touching him and this is all bullshit--his heart is pounding and his head is spinning and basically the ground is his best friend right now.

He's half braced on the ground and half trying to help Anubis drag him away, unconsciously clinging in a way he'll probably be embarrassed about later, kicking roughly to try and free himself

[The kick in the face is solid and sure. The creature reels back and let's go. It hits the floor and turns to ash.]

[ ssssssslowly unclenches his fingers from Anubis' clothes and tries to get up on his feet, still pale and shaky ]

I don't think any of us are okay, y'know? But I'm not hurt--thanks a lot. W-What the fuck even was that?

A random encounter. Probably pretty low level, by the looks of it.

A random encounter? What, like we're in a video game?

Yeah? Well--I can probably handle that. Damn... fantasy's not really my thing, y'know? I'm more of a sci-fi kinda person! Good thing I got you here!

So far it seems more horror-themed than anything. But I'm probably the only one familiar with the normal rules, yeah.

Oh yeah? Ha, awesome! I hate horror stuff, but if I'm with you, I guess I got pretty lucky after all...Have you done this before?

Monster World is one of my favorite games back home. Um, right now me and the others are trying to figure out where we want to go.

Well... we're supposed to be finding this "Dark Matter" guy, right?

[ gives a look around--and spots Guy With Woman Over Shoulder ]

It looks like there are other people here.

So... in real life I'd say let's go over there and help 'em out, but if this is a board game... then we probably wanna finish, right? I dunno man, this is your world--does it help more if we try and cover more ground?

[chews at his lower lip]

I don't know. Covering more ground is probably best, but if you want to go and help them, I won't stop you.

[ knowing this is basically a double-game does at least help him not have to be saving everyone all the time

he does still have to take a long moment to think tho ]

I wanna move us ahead. We got a goal, right, and I guess we got stuck in teams like this, so we're probably meant to accomplish different things.

Yeah. Phoenix-san and I are going to check out who's sitting all alone on the roof over there. After that... apparently Lavender-san can talk to ghosts, so maybe we'll be able to approach the tower more easily than I thought.

[liftoft]

[ goes very still and tense

and then turns so he can hussle in the direction of the roof ]

Uh, or, maybe the ghosts will just be gone by the time we get back!

I kind of doubt it. X-san, I didn't realize you were afraid of ghosts?

[liftoft]

I'm not afraid... I just hate 'em! So fucking creepy!

Hmm... I don't know? It might be because ghosts are so straightforward about their feelings and what they want. It's what keeps them here, after all.

I feel like your kinda ghosts are better than the ones I'm used to. Usually those are all, like, creepy and murderin' and stuff over grudges that nobody they're after had anything to do with!
