[The goblin is SO CONCERNED ABOUT BEING LATE that he doesn't see Fox until it's... too late-- it was running very fast and now tries to stop himself from crashing into him and slips up and falls, apparently this goblin is not very good at being a goblin.]
Fight System
This battle system is turn-based. An action’s success will be decided with a simple dice roll to be specified in chan. Success against an enemy can be measured in successful attacks and weapon class.
Weapon class: You can check a weapon’s class in its Stacia Window. A successful attack made with a Class 5 weapon may not kill a Goblin in one strike, but a successful attack made with a Class 15 weapon will! Try to find and wield stronger weapons for a better chance at a one-hit KO. Stronger foes will require better weapons-- or many, many turns and a lot of luck. This feels like a paid gacha endorsement, but it’s not. You have to explore and level up. You can’t whale for this.
Imagination (Appendix): You can bypass the need for a dice roll by using the power of imagination in certain ways! My System 3 description wasn’t complete due to c&p fail, so this is a good time to remedy that.
No matter what you do, you will always need a catalyst of some sort. For example, you may be able to Imagine a whip becoming a snake and have the snake perform an attack (why would you) (well, maybe you want to poison your enemy?!), but you won’t be able to summon a snake out of nowhere, or to turn a dagger into a snake unless you get really creative with your justification of why a snake might arguably have the shape of a dagger in a dormant state. We’d have to roll dice for this because of how far-fetched it would be. You can make your weapon bigger, but you can’t change its Class to a higher one.
Basically, you cannot use the power of imagination to override the mechanics in place, but you can use it to maximize your chances.
Please don’t consult whether something can be done or not OOCly! Let your characters the limits of this for themselves if need be (and avoid giving other people ideas in chan).
Being in a clearly disadvantageous position, the goblin realizes that its best bet is a partial dodge! It reaches back for its dagger, and that movement actually helps-- its luck is at an all-time high, apparently.
Fox's katana grazes the goblin's shoulder, and the goblin uses this chance to push itself forward with all its might and slash at Fox's arm. It does little more than graze it, but it does draw blood. Even the goblin looks surprised that this worked...
Fox's retaliating attack catches the goblin right when it's bending forward to get up-- and now, Fox does slash its neck with ease. It's a critical hit! I'm sorry about your clothes and the floor.
Still, this is not the real world. The goblin's life may be decreasing quickly, but it is still alive, and hasn't given up!... Not that it can do much at this point. It brings one hand up to its throat, waving its dagger at Fox with a snarl as if to keep him away.
The goblin's head is severed so cleanly and swiftly that it stays exactly where it was for a second, and then gross things happen and it slides to the side. Both the body and the head fall down, making a mess on ice even as they dissolve into particles of light.
Your clothes are still bloodied but this is definitely your win!
[No congratulatory messages appear. If you want to check your stats, you'll have to do it yourself!]
[When he walks past the goblin's body, which should be mostly transparent by now, he might see a key glowing in a light blue color where the body used to be...!
Regardless of the key, this cave tunnel is deep and pitch dark. Please roll 1d2 for balance!]
[The tunnel is long and cold-- and when you finally reach the light at the end of it, the world on the other side of the cave looks as if there were holes in the very fabric of its reality.
Does this sound familiar? Well, it should. This cave tunnel leads outside of Shinjuku Station, and you are now looking at Imeeji as was right before the trial. However, you are not flickering, or in pain, or even in monochrome. The rest of the world is.
[jerks his hand back, ow. fox makes the executive decision to NOT go into the bad place. he is going to head back through the cave (using Makes Perfect to keep his balance) and look around for something he could put this key into?]
[There don't seem to be any more goblins around! You'll have to be careful with every step you take though, because this tunnel is so cold it's not just ice-- there's frost on the floor for added difficulty. It’s also completely dark. And long.
But you don't fall because you know how to do this by now, and also because Nadeko has the dokis for you!
After a while, you see a very low light further ahead. Once you get there, you can see that it’s actually coming from a door-- the one that glows in a light blue color, though it's fading in real time.
There is another door next to it. This one is frozen solid.]

In all cases, spatial resources will be consumed.
[You have the chance for a first strike!]

Your life goes down by 100 points.

but hopefully it gives fox an opening to do a quick retaliating slash? yes?]
