Unfortunately, you don’t have too much time to contemplate the strange stillness-- there’s a jingle coming from your pocket. Your phone is ringing… in a little robotic voice. Taking out the phone reveals that it’s become a little gameboy-like machine, handheld, with a cute digital face on the screen, smiling at you.

“Hello! Incoming call from Princess Bubblegum!! Please pick up Bphone right now okay!”

[Whyyyy is it so dark in here. The light of the phone is something at least.]

Uh--okay, pick up, then.

[Pokes at the phone in case a button needs pressing]

A girl appears on the screen-- pink face, pinker hair, and sweetly smiling.

“Greetings and salutations, adventurer! We’re not entirely sure how you got in here, but it’s whatevs, right? What could POSSBLY go wrong? Hah, don’t take that as a challenge! Or do, I guess, if you really wanna be THAT GUY.

Well, anyway. I am Princess Bubblegum, and I need you to complete a mission for me! Or, like, try. We’ve been trying to find the True Heart for a while now, but she seems to have disappeared? Kinda rude if you ask me, she’s got stuff to take care of and just runs off like a coward. So yeah, I kinda need you to find her for me. Any questions? No? Good luck, adventurer! Let me know if you REALLY need my help. I’m pretty used to cleaning up everyone’s mess around here anyways.

I have high expectations of you! Don’t disappoint me!”

And then the feed cuts out.

H-hey! I didn't even get a chance-- That wasn't helpful at all!

[considers deeply whether it's worth calling back just to complain to this person who looks familiar, actually...

...Well, fuck that, she doesn't need any help, and she's sure as hell not just gonna sit around in the dark waiting around for any. Her muscle memory's not quite enough to navigate perfectly to the bedrooms in the dark, but she's pretty sure she'll make it eventually. She keeps Bphone out to shed at least a little light on the way]

...C'mon.

The little light display from the menu screen (and Bphone's face) puts out enough light to see by, at least.

Also, it still talks, excitedly, so long as you talk at it. "Okay! We are going on an adventure like Princess Bubblegum said?"

[Honestly doesn't mind. It's better than Alexa]

We're going for a walk, since standing around here in the dark until we run out of power's dumb. ...You're not low on battery or anything, are you?

"Bphone cannot ever go out! Probably. I do not know!" It giggles, a little. "But if you get bored of walking, Bphone has games and fun stuff!"

The only thing around is the exit door.

Okay. Maybe I'll check that out later.

...You ever met this True Heart?

[Heading for the door with the intent to exit]

"No, I have never seen her! I do not know if anybody has, but Princess Bubblegum says we must find her, so she must be here somewhere!"

You exit the ☆ZRAEL dorm. The door clicks behind you as you close it, locking itself. You step onto the porch of a small two-floor house, surrounded by shallow water. The whole area is within a dark, damp cave, only a little chilly. You can see the cave mouth not far away-- beyond it, the night sky shines. It's not as dark out here.

There’s some stuff lying around--- on the porch and across the water, on the cave shores.

Not too far away a girl with shaggy brown hair wanders, wearing some light armor in purple and gold and a sword at her hip, searching for something among the rocks. ... She looks familiar.

Nobody's ever seen her...?

[Ridges her brows a bit at that, but puts that aside to get her new bearings. First thing, deal with the immediate threat. Surreptitiously she checks to see if her powers still work (any convenient blades in her hand?) but even if not, no point in sneaking around. She walks closer (but not exactly close to the person]

...Hey, what're you doing?

No powers, no weapons; only your skills/magic (which you do know, instinctively) at your disposal.

The girl turns to face you and-- well.

"Nemesis! You're here!"

Uhh. Yes? I mean... I guess I was already here? If you're me, anyways...

[Pauses... Well, thinking never got her very far so whatever]

...What're you doing?

She's still beaming. "Nah, I'm just the part of Req that looks like you, that's all.

Anyway, uh-- I'm just trying to find something that came in here a bit ago, don't mind me that much. Are you okay? What brings you here?"

Dunno, 'sposed to find the "True Heart." If you got any ideas or tips, feel free to spill.

...You need any help looking? Eight eyes're better than four, right?

The smile slowly falls. “Well, she’s been missing for a bit, yeah? Bonnie’s been throwing a hissyfit about it for basically forever.” She shrugs, and tries to look nonchalant but there’s definitely some worry.

But after a moment of looking at the rocks, she turns back to you, reaching for your hand not holding Bphone. "Well-- honestly, I've got a handle on this, but... helping you's way more important, I think? We're a team, right?"

[Notes that but holds her tongue for now, listening to the rest. Hesitates, then takes the other Nem's hand and shakes (that's what she wants, right???).]

...If you can't trust yourself, who can you trust? We'll find this True Heart, and then we'll find this lost thing, okay?

Nemesis looks a little confused at the handshake, and if you go to release she lets you, a bit visibly disappointed.

"I mean," she says, lightly, apparently in an attempt to lighten her own mood-- she starts smiling again, in any case-- "I'm not really you. I'm just shaped like you. But yeah, I'd like that, and I'm sure you could use the help.

You should try to find a weapon or something, though. There's vampires and stuff out there."

I thought they were all dead. Except for...you know.

[Turns away, unsure about the other Nem's reaction but not ignoring her words at least...starts skimming the area for something that might be a weapon though her -2 roll maybe gets her a nice piece of cardboard??]

...Anyways, probably nothing to worry about. We got the two of us together, right?

... you uh. You don't find ANYTHING. For some reason, your mind is totally blank about this!

Nemesis pipes up from behind you, since you're not looking at her. "Ah-- yeah. I mean, Hurricane's around here somewhere, too, so we can try to get his help if you want. We were supposed to meet up soon anyway."

[ Well. ]

[ Okay. ]

[ I guess this is happening. Answering the phone, yes. ]

Hello?

...Hurricane? Just how many people're in here anyways?

[And look, it just means you've gotta spend less time planning and more time doing. Other!Nem's got armor, it'll be fine. She gestures at her to come on, and starts heading for the cavern exit]

"Dunno about anyone else-- I've been hear since nearly the start, and Hurricane got here a bit ago..." she says, a bit absently, and trails after you.

From the exit you can distantly see buildings in the distance in one direction, and a dark forest in another.
