HEART GAME: REQUIEM (run 2)
You awaken in the ☆ZRAEL dorm common room. It’s dark. Darker than usual, and the reason why is immediately apparent: the lamps are all extinguished, the stars have disappeared, and the moon has shifted to new. The ocean below the glass panes of the floor is silent and still. Everything feels cold and unmoving, not unlike a painting.

Re: MARCY'S HOUSE
"I mean," she says, lightly, apparently in an attempt to lighten her own mood-- she starts smiling again, in any case-- "I'm not really you. I'm just shaped like you. But yeah, I'd like that, and I'm sure you could use the help.
You should try to find a weapon or something, though. There's vampires and stuff out there."
Re: MARCY'S HOUSE
[Turns away, unsure about the other Nem's reaction but not ignoring her words at least...starts skimming the area for something that might be a weapon though her -2 roll maybe gets her a nice piece of cardboard??]
...Anyways, probably nothing to worry about. We got the two of us together, right?
Re: MARCY'S HOUSE
Nemesis pipes up from behind you, since you're not looking at her. "Ah-- yeah. I mean, Hurricane's around here somewhere, too, so we can try to get his help if you want. We were supposed to meet up soon anyway."
Re: MARCY'S HOUSE
[And look, it just means you've gotta spend less time planning and more time doing. Other!Nem's got armor, it'll be fine. She gestures at her to come on, and starts heading for the cavern exit]
Re: MARCY'S HOUSE
From the exit you can distantly see buildings in the distance in one direction, and a dark forest in another.
Re: MARCY'S HOUSE
[Considers, then goes for the forest even though it definitely seems the less appealing location]
Let's make sure True Heart's not stuck someplace lonely first, okay?
[She'll slow down if Nem is having trouble keeping up, but otherwise keep a fairly quick pace]
DEEP FOREST
You enter the forest and everything around you is immediately plunged into darkness. It’s eerily quiet, here, surrounded by massive trees thicker than you are tall, with the starry night sky barely able to break through the canopy.
There's tons of little hidey-holes and niches here in the roots and rocks.
Re: DEEP FOREST
Why don't you hold onto it until you do, then? Might not even be a big deal, y'know?
[It would be great to look around some of these hidey-holes; with a 5 she attempts to do so, but...yeah. At any rate, if they can keep moving in some direction that doesn't seem to be lost, that would be cool]
Re: DEEP FOREST
-Pine cones: throw as an extra move during your turn for 1d3 more damage.
-Cardboard Tube: Someone’s paper towel leftovers, ew. 1d4 damage. Might as well just use your fists.
-Bucket: Maybe you can use this as a hat…? It’s got eyeholes. +2 AC
Nemesis looks uncertain but gives the area a cursory look on her own, reaching into a nook and pulling out...
Another sword, this one shining brightly enough to light the area around them dimly.
"Huh."
Re: DEEP FOREST
[SMH stuffs the pine cones into the bucket and takes them, though. Bphone can ride in there too]
That thing know how to point towards where we need to be going or anything?
[More importantly, can they see any obvious way to go than just tripping over folks' trash]
Re: DEEP FOREST
Nemesis hands you the sword, and starts walking with you. "You take it, I already have one. Can't use two.
And honestly, I dunno. Only other thing I saw was those pearl things."
And now that she's pointed them out, you CAN see them-- small, round green pearls here and there, leading deeper into the forest.
Re: DEEP FOREST
Huh... Guess they're going somewhere... And whoever it is might know something, right?
[They do look vaguely familiar, but again, standing around thinking about where what reference may have come from's a lot less exciting than just finding out. Surely they should follow this convenient path! Along the way she'll prod at one with the toe of her boot, actually]
Re: DEEP FOREST
-Hero Sword: A shining sword. 1d10 dmg
You prod at one of the pearls-- it pops, kinda squishy, but nothing happens. And you follow the path, you come upon... nothing. The trail eventually ends.
And your body abruptly seizes up, and you're thrown a few feet into another tree for 2 damage.
Re: DEEP FOREST
[Ow--ow, fuck. Immediately whips her head around, the blade following quick after; what the hell is going on]
Who's there!?
Re: DEEP FOREST
Nemesis freezes up, staring, and doesn't move.
Re: DEEP FOREST
Oh]
--Fine. Let's see how you do.
[Grimacing, she casts Protect on Nemesis, then quickly chucks a pine cone at the vampire before rushing at her--here's your target]
Re: DEEP FOREST
Fortunately, you don't have to go too far. The pinecone hits. She abruptly shatters into a hundreds of tiny pieces, and fades away, leaving only a vial of dark, thick liquid.
Re: DEEP FOREST
[Maybe it was a secret divine pine?? Checks on Nem before carefully heading for the vial, checking for...traps??? it's a 3 why do I even roll--fuck it she attempts to take it (with her metal arm)]
Re: DEEP FOREST
Nemesis looks a little shaken up, and now that the vamp is gone, a little ashamed. She doesn't say anything.
You pick it up easy enough. The vial is small, glass, and clear enough to see the liquid roiling around inside, independent of being moved.
Re: DEEP FOREST
[Returns to Nemesis, still keyed up, but trying to play it cool at least. She'd just feel worse with sympathy, so:]
Still in one piece? You know what this's supposed to be?
[Waggles the vial]
Re: DEEP FOREST
Re: DEEP FOREST
[hesitates, then reaches for her hand again]
Re: DEEP FOREST
She stares at the vial again, grimacing, before gently leading you through the trees again. "Come on... maybe if we can find Hurricane, he'll know what it is. He knows more about the vampires."
Re: DEEP FOREST
[Tucks the vial into a jacket pocket, then continues on. She doesn't take her hand back this time, and not just because she basically can see literally nothing in this place]
Do you gotta deal with vampires much?
Re: DEEP FOREST
And she goes quiet for a moment; you can see the buildings of the city beyond through the gaps in the trees now. "No escaping vampires here, though," she says after a while. "Prolly gonna be here for s'long as Req lives. Probably gonna be here forever. Long after I'm-- gone, or replaced, or thrown away, too."
