[ When you next open your eyes, you find yourself standing in a hallway of stained glass windows; the door behind you closes completely shut before disappearing, you in a corridor that leads to nowhere. You're stranded, here . . . wherever you are . . . ?

The light that reflects through the glass is a gentle one, and the whole place seems to glow, almost binding in illumination - it's been recently swept here, or otherwise recently polished so everything isn't so musty; still, there's a distinct feeling of heaviness in the air. One could almost mistake the feeling for reverence.

There's only one direction: forward, into the light. ]

[Not gonna complain about that. Taking a closer look at the carvings; the whole point of stained glass windows and illuminated manuscripts is that they're supposed to tell the stories for people who can't read, right?]

[ The rough gist of the story seems to be about a messiah:

The people suffer, silhouettes twisted in agony. A light shines from the heavens with one dove flying down; a baby is born in a manger, with a dove peering into the barn. The child grows, watched over by this dove; he becomes a man and the light shines again, the dove now carrying an olive branch back up to the light.

This seems to, broadly, be the life of a certain religious figure. You know how the rest of the story goes, surely? ]

[ A cross, and ascendance. Then, an ascendance beyond that: there is Heaven, the gates, and winged creatures. Above them, the light descends. A dove flies up, as does the crucified man. The very last carving is that of angels fighting against demons, Heaven and Hell present - but there is no longer any light from above. ]
