[ A bejeweled hand extends from the wall, from behind a beaded curtain, and clasps yours—and then you see the other hand extending, holding an impossibly large, impossibly sharp pair of golden scissors. Whatever your fingers are made of, it slices through one of them at the base, maybe a little more slowly than it really needs to.

The hand unclasps from yours, and catches the lost finger neatly; both disappear back behind the draperies. ]
