GM Game: Heart Soldier Senshi
[ The door shuts behind you, leaving you in a copy of this room. Upon one of the fancy tables is your card for the round, along with slots for each unit for you to go slide in your choices.
You can come and go as you will, but once you have left the room, you cannot speak of anything that transpires within: not your choices, not your discussion, not your alliances.
Do your best, idol-tachi. ]

Re: DISCUSSION
[Six months in actuality, but 100 years in practice. It's a miracle he's got even this much memory of it left.]
But... even when we got hit, the people who got hit made the call to keep going that way.
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
I know what we're doing, and why we're doing it. I'm outvoted. Stuff's changed since then; I'll suck it up.
Re: DISCUSSION
I'm not trying to make a point. I'm trying to understand what it was like before. I don't think you need to be lectured, like you said, you get it, but I do want to get a better idea in order to find something closer to a medium since this way's pretty rough on people too.
Re: DISCUSSION
This is how people want to play, so this is how we're playing. Right? Not much room for middle ground when the game plan's throw everything at em we got, long's it's not murder.
Re: DISCUSSION
Not being able to use your phone for a few days is actually a lot more manageable than insatiable hunger, for example, but the hunger is the lower point value here.
Re: DISCUSSION
It's not like the choices are between phone use and being hungry, dude. It's between "do we wanna take someone's arm off" and "do we not wanna hurt people."
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
That's not the kind of thing I'd call lower.
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
You don't gotta make a case to me, dude.
I'm not the one calling the shots.
Re: DISCUSSION
I'm trying to talk theories using the examples we've been given. You seemed to really object to the idea of playing three cards following the initial hand that was played, so I want to get an idea why.
Please, don't take my words as an attack. A discussion isn't a fight.
Re: DISCUSSION
[Closes it.]
[And then, because Mercury wasn't there for any of the times they've discussed this before, he actually answers, though he pitches his voice low enough that the others won't overhear.]
Cause it feels kind of shitty putting us over everyone else?
And cause playing this way's a mistake. The earlier in the game people get hit hard, the harder they'll hit to break even and the worse it's gonna go, in general, for everyone. If we'd started out running damage control instead of throwing the kitchen sink at em, that's two teams that probly wouldn't have needed to play hard on other people next round.
So now here we are in the lead, and we ain't been touched. We don't need the points. But instead of cooling it while we got the chance, we're hitting three teams again. Even if we wanted a shield from, say, the ones who're gonna need to play hard after they got destroyed round one - even if we wanted to play three because of that - we could do our three lowest and still be plenty fine.
Re: DISCUSSION
I don't think I have any argument against that way of playing, myself. Like I said before, I like the idea of adjusting, myself. The only part I would say I'm half and half on is the idea of, ah... I guess putting ourselves before others is a way to say it.
Mostly, I don't think there's much wrong with trying to play to protect ourselves, but within reason. So protection with a few cards while using our highest but also least harmful card to try and keep our point total at a healthy amount. No one else involved in this game can help us get points, nor protect us from those who may end up targeting us, so we're the only ones who can do that.
It was said before that trying to play middle of the road ended poorly for the unit though... I wonder if that was just the luck of the game at the time. We do have more targets than usual right now, so that may be playing a part in why we're not getting hit as hard.
Re: DISCUSSION
[In a game like this, that seems mutually exclusive.]

Re: DISCUSSION
[He shrugs a little, awkward.]
I can deal. I'll do better, next time. I just -
[He hesitates a beat or two. Then:]
I'll do better.
Re: DISCUSSION
Re: DISCUSSION
[Kind of sounds like 27864384 more team meetings, which will be followed up by the team mood being Real Gross for ages and, more likely than not, end up with this exact decision]
[But he is tired, so]
...yeah. Maybe.
Re: DISCUSSION
... But for now, let's focus on getting through this?
