[they are pretty firmly attached, but you do get the sense that there might be layers]

[Can he get the blade of this knife in between the layers?]

[it's a perfectly sharp knife! but the thing as you cut into it, well, it isn't exactly easy and it doesn't slice like fabric, it slices like flesh. a bit like you're actually cutting into an animal.

[If it's not, he's going to leave it be and cross the room to try and pry up a board with the knife blade.]

They start to come away. It's hard to tell from this point, but there is definitely something beyond.

[He pries one off, to get a better look - brings the lamp over, to see what's on the other side.]

[Wednesday is curious, but cautious--

The hoof that comes stomping down a foot away is a strong hint. That's a horse. There's a horse behind this wall?!
