Perhaps that's the closest word, but it's not so simple. Among you Terrans, you may disown each other or be disowned, or leave your family to strike out on your own, but there's no such thing among daar-aruuvi.
Terrans understand so little of context—the people of the canals. Aruuv, our planet. But so many just say "Mars, Mars," though this word means nothing to us.
