But really, politics is the order of the day here, so there's much to say about it. The Illmatars are the power couple of Martian politics, but they've made a lot of enemies with Praanch Vainamoinen's recklessness; people are wondering if Lady Jane Wiltshire will marry again; and, of course, First-Keeper Lochaana Naarabot is likely to be dead before the year is out if she keeps this up.
Well, easier said then done, when you're at war with a world-spanning empire, Miss.
But as for the others, well—she's drawn criticism for working with the Maozooni, and she has suspected ties to other Martian heretic circles, given how she's been a mentor to young Raachna Nepenthee. And the Innugati kiima in Meepsoor is publicly denouncing her and saying she's possessed for her actions, now.
It's what the Martians call their families, I believe. Seems sort of like a noble house, except they've all got one? There's some things they'll only do with their kiima, see—none of them eat with outsiders, for example. Drives the chef nuts.
Well, First-Keeper Naarabot's protegée of sorts. Or at least I think that's the sort of relationship they have. She's a sort of engineering prodigy, among their people.
