[ Minus your missing unitmate, you emerge in this room. There's enough room for your whole team to crowd into a booth, and discuss and speculate on your missing unitmate's predicament. After all, the rules displaying on your phone has just informed you that it's up to you to figure out what happened to them, and their fate hangs in the balance of just how well you can figure it out in time.

A little hourglass in the center of the table informs you of each ten minutes that passes. It sits next to a "menu"-- a list of 36 possible terrible things, three of which are happening to your unitmate, right now. ]

What the heck do you suppose this image means?

[comparing it to the menu]

...Maybe we can rule out some of the ones like uhhhh auto-brewery syndrome...??

What the hell is that? Never heard of "auto-brewery syndrome" before in my life.

I tttthhiiiink it's when your gut bacteria processes food incorrectly and synthesizes alcohol inside your own body, but I'm not a hundred percent on that.

I'm pretty sure it's a type of sickness, anyway.

--Bodies are freakin' weird.

But if that's a sickness, maybe we could ask about if he's feelin' alright healthwise? Looks like there's a few sicknesses on that list.

Oh yeah, that's a good thought. Maybe even "how much does it hurt" or something? If it's a physical wound then it probably hurts, while maybe drowning doesn't...? Does drowning hurt?

That's uh... water goin' into yer lungs?

I mean, it hurts when I'm drinking water and then some of it goes up my nose?

Probably the best bet is to try and eliminate a bunch at once, if we can!

... maybe that means his arm? Am I being too obvious?

That is an option. But it is also a door opening with an irregular knob. What can we ask to get him to expand on it?

Maybe... is he in pain right now? Oh, but that's yes or no...

It seems like the the possible meanings of this could be something like... hand, arm, door, an opening? ...A crack? An exit?

[comparing it to the menu]

Let's see if we can scratch off the ones that don't fit.

The only other one that fits is turning to stone, I think.

Maybe... unless it's like, reaching out?

Looking at the list, it could also possibly be... gladiatorial combat, drowning, poltergeist, murderous toys, having an arm chopped off, maybe complex fracture... ?

Drowning does also suit. Let us ask him between those three only. Drowning, stone, or arm.

But if it's not any of those, he needs a way to tell us, too.

Umm how to phrase this so it's not a yes/no question... "which is closest: drowning, stone, arm, or neither?"... something like that.
