Gloom: Taisho Roman Revolution

[The old-fashioned writing desk in the center of the room carries several blank pieces of paper, a fine wooden pen, and a piece of parchment covered in writing. When you take a look, you find the following epigraph in a vibrant scrawl:]

Congratulations, future wordsmiths, and welcome to your first exercise in the creation of a true masterwork of tale-telling. This evening you'll be penning a terrific tragedy, starring the family of unsympathetic ne'er-do-wells provided to you.

Your goal? Why, to construct the best story your mind can conceive, of course - and make their lives as entertainingly miserable as possible before writing one of them directly into an early grave.

Yes.

I've had it ever since the hostage game, but-- John-san has been supplying me with a steady dose of medication and I've slowly been regaining my strength.

[wait my brain isn't working today apparently]

If that's what the card is, then it's going to happen to someone else if we play it. There must be better ways to die. If you're so concerned about everyone else, then consider there's a good chance someone else is going to end the game. Why should we both do it?

We don't know if there are multiple death cards.

There are multiples of the rest, I doubt there's only one single death card to go around, that would be boring. Someone else may not have one this time, or everyone could have one. If we use ours, we're missing out on points. Another team like Sensitiv is likely to be playing for damage control.

Re: DISCUSSION

After what happened to them last time?

My vote is still to end it. Even if we lose right now, we can get away with getting fixed by SensitIV themselves.

Then doing our best to harm whoever is being affected by our choices was meaningless. No wonder they all hate this unit. You're willing to be ruthless for a moment, just enough to hurt someone, but you can't even follow through.

. . . That's not fair, Vergil.

We have to be willing to change strategies too if we think we can find a better option.

[ Outcasted by her own unit too...!!!!!!!!! ]

Sometimes it's better to stop before it gets worse. If the others agree to keep going, I'll consent. But this is my own feelings on the matter.

It's not just you. Fox and Shu will agree with you I'm sure. But I hope you'll all think about these choices and decide whether you're going to put your foot down to play soft, or if you're going to commit to being invested. This, going back and forth, is pointless.
sunflowering: DO NOT TAKE (Trust me guys i've got this probably)

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] sunflowering 2020-06-14 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
If we're presented with the option of ending the game before more people get hurt, then why wouldn't we take it?

I agreed to play high cards because I wanted us to survive, but if we end the game with what we have right now, we can heal quickly with that and stop others from acquiring more and more injuries.

We still survive and prevent any more needless suffering.

Re: DISCUSSION

As I said, others have the option as well. If we use one of our choices for something that won't give us any points, even if we're in the lead right now, we could easily be beaten because of that. Half the teams are going to be thinking the same thing you are and want to end it as well.

We have no idea if anyone else has drawn a Death Card.

No, we don't. But again, I'm sure there are plenty of them to go around so we can assume it's likely. If I'm wrong, and we're the only ones to have used one, I'll gladly concede to do things your way from the start next time.
sunflowering: Do not take (Forgot to turn off the water!)

Re: DISCUSSION

[personal profile] sunflowering 2020-06-14 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to agree to that. That's not to say that others might not play a death card too, but it doesn't mean we are wrong for trying to put an end to things.

And it doesn't automatically mean we'll lose, either. We can't know for sure.

Each game is different, so we'll have to access things differently each time. But whether or not I agree with your gameplay or strategy, I'll at least listen carefully to your thoughts and consider things.

Well forgive me for being blunt, but I think you're trying to play the martyr. And I don't get the impression that's worked out in the past.
