IMPOCALYPSE
BATTLE MECHANICS
Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.
- This is a turn-based fight. PCs will take their turn, the boss will react, and then the boss will take their turn. Players will react and take their turn, and so on and so forth.
- You may take up to six actions in one turn, including dodge. You may attack up to 6 times if you're not dodging, and you can attack even if you are dodging or fail to dodge. If a swing delivers more than one attack (throwing multiple projectiles at the same time) then it's counted as one "action".
- With every strike/blow/attack, .roll 1d6 twice (or !2d6. MAKE SURE TO DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE NADEKO IS A TRAITOR. The first dice determines whether your attack succeeds or fails, with 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success. The second dice determines how much damage you inflict on the boss. Please include both numbers with your comment on your turn.
- Roll for every strike, not for every turn. If your character decides to shoot 4 times in succession, roll a 2d6 for every bullet.
- Green text can be dodged, but red text is guaranteed damage. Dodge by using a 1d6, 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success.
- UNIT ABILITY MECHANICS ARE HERE, but please note: this is not the end-all be-all of how these powers can be used, and these are not the only powers that can be used in a fight, these are just the ones that affect rolls specifically. The session's runner always has the final say, so ask if you want to do something cool but you don't think it's street legal. (It probably is.)
Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.
EFFECTS LIST
- Black substance, both sticky and acidic
- A sticky substance that seems to cling to everything it touches, and is impossible to pull off. It melts through flesh, but the more it melts, the more it seems to become absorbed. Sufficient absorption of this substance in any capacity (skin absorption, digestion) will result in corruptions that may be permanent. May be removed by severing the affected area, or by bringing the affected area to the deadzone.

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
I said GET OFF HIM!
Crit: 5
Dam: 4 + 2 = 6 ]
BOSS REACTION
Duality’s personal assistant is doin an admirable job defending him, and tears a chunk out of a demon’s leg with its claws—it’s just, that’s a very, very beefy demon.
And then, well—
There’s a lightning flash, disorienting all the imps, followed by a screeching metallic sound that hurts your ears, too. Roll 1d6 to not be disoriented by an evil sword that’s theoretically on your side. ]
BOSS ACTION
K is finally free. Thank God.
Levi slashes at the imp that’s been attacking Duality, and currently doing battle with Duality’s personal assistant; even with the slash through its leg, it attempts to tear a chunk of metal from the assistant’s back with its teeth.
Between the yelling and the din, they’re too distracted to counterattack this round. There are three imps left. Time for a rally? ]
PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
He can't really attack this round. Just... trying to make his way back to his feet and get the dizzy ringing to stop. ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Nero staggers back, trying to prop himself up with his sword. The Feint also poofs out of existence, now that he can't maintain his focus. Everything... spinning...]
WHAT THE FUCK, FRIENDLY FIRE
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Dodging friendly fire though (4)? Nailed it!
Now. Time to counter sucker punch that demon with his metal arm (1,4). ... Also not happening. Why did he even get a metal arm in the first place if not to punch things?!]

Okay so maybe the haze of bloodlust isn't always the MOST effective damage increaser, but who needs precision when you've got all this rage? ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[K falls bonelessly to the ground after the creature finally gives up on him; he supposes he should look down and see exactly what state his leg's in after all that but somehow he can't seem to do much more than stare at the sky and blink the rain out of his eyes. The pain seems to be receding, which should worry him more.
[Getting stunned a second later is probably for the best.]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Nearby is K however, and while he can't exactly shake the nausea he still has access to his abilities. Activating part of your Property, it physically lifts K a foot off the ground and pulls him to Leviathan over to Leviathan, avoiding all obstacles and imps.
And at once, when his head is in his lap, he immediately begins to heal him while also removing any and all pain he's feeling. ]
Careful... it's going to be alright, but you've lost a lot of blood. It might be good to stay back.
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[Okay, it's about eight hundred times more intelligent than he might have expected, under the circumstances.
[He blinks. Is it a bad sign he can't feel anything any more?]
... sorry...
[Shoulda stayed out the way.
[Shoulda stayed in bed.]

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
K...!
[ She's so glad. She's planting herself in front of K and whoever else is stunned at the moment. ]
Get behind me.
[ She rolled a 6 and is therefore unaffected by that terrible screeching. ]
Just hold on. SensitIV is here with us...
[ Twirling the staff between her fingers, her fangs grit as she narrows in on the nearby imp... this one was the last one to go after the mechanical assistant and is close enough that it could cause them immediate problems, and so that's the current focus of her attention.
With a sweeping blow, she goes for it.
Crit: 5
Damage: 5+5 = 10 ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[He cries out - presses his hands to his ears (to dubious effect, while he's still in his henshin) - and straightens up when it's over, still a little dizzy and taking -1 to hit this turn. He can't keep K from bleeding out on the ground, but he can try and keep him covered so a healer can get in here]
Distraction time again, dude. You know what to do.
[His aibou certainly does, reappearing to nip at the nearest demon. It doesn't hit, with a Hit: 2 Damage: 6, but the distraction proves good enough for Hurricane to dart in and slash at it with his blades, for two identical rolls of Hit: 6 Damage: 5 and Hit: 6 Damage: 5]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
MORE IMPORTANTLY, Lucifel's pulling demon 1 off of Intensity with part of your Property, pulling it rapidly towards him so he can throw an array of knives at it once more:
HANDS OFF THE MASTER OKOKOK ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
well she's going to get up and try to take down another demon then--
except that becomes a much harder task than it really needs to be when the supposedly-on-your-side evil sword starts screaming. with a strangled shout challah grasps at her head, the world around her suddenly doubling and turning on its side.
confused, but knowing that she must defend Kaguya, she keeps stumbling forwards. and aims a punch at the NEAREST THING THAT LOOKS VAGUELY LIKE A DEMON HEAD (hit: 4, dam: 3+1=4) ]

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
he will also grab the nearest lamppost to transform the metal into a staff that he can use as a weapon and also taking a swing at the imp (4, 6) with it]
END
Challah barrels into another demon, slamming its head into the ground in time for Lucifel to hit it with a flurry of knives, keeping it from hitting Intensity. And—
It's... over?
Probably?
You can tend to your wounded unless one of you decides to start more shit. ]
