IMPOCALYPSE
BATTLE MECHANICS
Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.
- This is a turn-based fight. PCs will take their turn, the boss will react, and then the boss will take their turn. Players will react and take their turn, and so on and so forth.
- You may take up to six actions in one turn, including dodge. You may attack up to 6 times if you're not dodging, and you can attack even if you are dodging or fail to dodge. If a swing delivers more than one attack (throwing multiple projectiles at the same time) then it's counted as one "action".
- With every strike/blow/attack, .roll 1d6 twice (or !2d6. MAKE SURE TO DO IT THIS WAY BECAUSE NADEKO IS A TRAITOR. The first dice determines whether your attack succeeds or fails, with 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success. The second dice determines how much damage you inflict on the boss. Please include both numbers with your comment on your turn.
- Roll for every strike, not for every turn. If your character decides to shoot 4 times in succession, roll a 2d6 for every bullet.
- Green text can be dodged, but red text is guaranteed damage. Dodge by using a 1d6, 1-3 as fail and 4-6 as success.
- UNIT ABILITY MECHANICS ARE HERE, but please note: this is not the end-all be-all of how these powers can be used, and these are not the only powers that can be used in a fight, these are just the ones that affect rolls specifically. The session's runner always has the final say, so ask if you want to do something cool but you don't think it's street legal. (It probably is.)
Note: characters that are heavily injured may acquire corruptions. There will be heavy maiming.
EFFECTS LIST
- Black substance, both sticky and acidic
- A sticky substance that seems to cling to everything it touches, and is impossible to pull off. It melts through flesh, but the more it melts, the more it seems to become absorbed. Sufficient absorption of this substance in any capacity (skin absorption, digestion) will result in corruptions that may be permanent. May be removed by severing the affected area, or by bringing the affected area to the deadzone.

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Let her go...!
[ Swinging around it's another skull-cracking with her staff, using in solidarity to it's fullest
Hit: 5
Damg: 4+4 = 8 ]
BOSS REACTION
doesn't quite kill it. But K's final strike does, and the demon finally poofs into black smoke. The demon that grabbed Shrike tries to chase after her but is struck by Wildfire's bullet and Persephone's dagger, redirecting its attention. Before it can focus on Persephone, though, Kaguya brains it with her staff, and god how do these things even still have skulls left at this point?
The demon stomping Hiryuu, on the other hand, lets out an anguished roar immediately after as she shares her pain with it, and though Cardinal doesn't seem to do any direct damage to it, the force of the Warpstrike plus Aurora's punch and the dragon Aibou attacking in tandem send it toppling to the ground.
Levi's demon is still sad and alone, with the exception of Noah cutting off its extra hands (which poof into smoke the moment they're disconnected) to prevent more grabbyhanding.
😢
BOSS ACTION
The demon now facing Kaguya, on the other hand, tries to grab her face and liqueify its hand into the black substance once it has a hold of her.
The demon fighting Hiryuu is too busy being on the ground with an old woman and a tiny assassin on top of it while writhin in pain to do anything about any of this.

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[Foresight tells K his first tactic is a bad one. (2 HIT + 3 DAM)
[His second is... not so much a tactic as it is body checking the goddamn thing claws-first while it's too busy screaming to pay him too much in the way of attention, but it does have the advantage of working rather better.
[ 4 HIT + 5 DAM ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Before the one down on the ground beside him and Hiryuu and the rest can do something similar, he reaches out and places his claw upon it's face, activating crawling in my Skin-- and immediately sets to work destroying it's mouth and face, attempting to fuse everything together.

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[ she lets out a shriek of her own that's not nearly as loud, though, like, half the people here wouldn't even know - oops - and runs at him; HELLO NEW FRIEND... IT'S TIME TO DIE!!! ]
[ 6 to hit,
4 5 3 1 5 6 1 = 25 damage. ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
evade 3
but I guess also the demon playing with grandma and tiny assassin ALSO gets to feel that pain.
Aibou whips around and starts fucking ripping up the squalling demon. YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH A DRAGON, COME PLAY WITH A DRAGON!
6 to hit, 4 for damage ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
(1, miss, why does he always miss the first shot!!!
6,3 for shot 2.)
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
he's not going to do that. instead, he pulls his other stiletto dagger out of his hairstick and taking a moment to observe the situation, throws it at the demon that is attacking Kaguya, with a carefully calculated arc as it comes down, trying to blind it.
(4, 6.)
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
She doesn't have a lot of time to react when the large demon facing her suddenly grabs her by the face with only a dodge roll of 1. And so it catches her, literally, head on.
Blindly she swings her weapon at it to try and force the creature to drop her-- unwilling to go down without at least a little damage using in solidarity

Dam: 2 + 2 = 4

BOSS REACTION
...
Wait, where is that music coming from?
And while that's happening, the demon Aurora and Cardinal are on is stabbed, punched, and finally shot. It lies still, seemingly finished, but...?
BOSS ACTION
Acidic black ooze rains down on Aurora and Cardinal eating at cloth and flesh. The final demon, the one facing Kaguya, puts in a last ditch effort - a tremendous, sixteen-armed SEDECUPLE LARIAT - a tornado of solid fist and muscle almost as frightening as the fire tornado that tried to sweep everyone away at the beginning. Kaguya, K, Wildfire, and Persephone are all subject to its multi-hit bone-shattering blows as it spins to win.
PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[ the explosion startles her, all four ears standing up, but then as the other demon starts changing into... a bigger demon her attention refocuses. oh, yeah, it's not over yet. but also, rude, multiple appendages are her thing!!! ]
[ she rushes at the 16-armed demon from behind to pounce on it and attempt to rip&tear. ]
[ 2 to hit,
2 3 1 1 3 1 5 = 16 damage. ]

Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
[K uses Smokebomb again, stumbling back (1) only to find an opening a split second later and dive clear of the assault (6!)
[He's off-balance, though, and doesn't fancy his immediate chances of getting up close and personal with that thing, so tears a knife from his sleeve and flings it at what he desperately hopes is center mass.
[K is no knife thrower and survival knives are not balanced for throwing. Still, it's an attempt!
[He's probably gonna have to go get that back later.
[ 1 HIT + 4 DAM ]
Re: PLAYER (RE)ACTION
luka luka feverlariat crossfire. (2, 2) He doesn't even know how to scream from all of that pain at once.He doubles over, but almost on a reflex, he takes the empty gun in his hand and throws it right at the demon. It doesn't do much damage, but you know, he's not all there atm. (6, 1).]

2. thanks to smokebomb, 5 on the dodge roll. dances out of the way of the ultimate wrestling move, in and out like he's just dancing with it, makes this unearthly beautiful.unfolds his sharp-edged dancer's fan from somewhere in his skirts and tries to slash at it twice
(3 4)
(2 5) and presumably misses, before he dance-dodges back out of melee because he doesn't want to be anywhere near that.]
