Amaranth: A Dream
...whose battles called her far from home.
She slew the thing she feared most, and conquered the land that feared her.
As she fought, far away, she knew her children needed guidance.
She knew they faced tyrants.
She knew they faced fear.
In her homeland, things were broken.
So, she held up her hand before the sun, and cast a shadow on the world, and drowned the troubles of her home in darkness.
"Survival's a long reach," she said.

Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
she hesitates in the sunlight, though, but... since it's not burning... well, okay. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
Some part of you is aware that it's not as if you have no reason at all to be nervous: there was a time when you would have been hunted as Anathema if the people here were aware of the true nature of your Exaltation. Now, though, there is peace.
As you walk towards the village, for a time, For a time, the stream and the path align with each other. However, eventually, there's a smaller branch that continues towards the town, and a second part of the stream that rejoins the larger river.
Which way? ]

Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
The town itself is bustling with prosperity, with wildflowers blooming at the corners of the streets. It's pretty much Sengoku era cottagecore. There are plenty of people here, smiling and chatting with one another; in fact, it seems there's a market today. There are fathers holding their children's hands as they walk to the market, sometimes joined by mothers as well. A few guards are posted, but they seem notably relaxed, as if their presence is mostly a formality.
The people here are generally dark-haired, but skin and eye color varies greatly. Also, almost all of them are really tall—generally in the range of 5'8"-6'5", with a few even taller.
...Damn, Amaranth and Persephone are really short in this context. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
she does find herself self-conscious among the people, anyway-- none of them familiar and intensely aware of her own differences, but she wanders in, casual, but keeping out of anyone's way as she looks around. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
Extremely low-tech compared to Tokyo-F, but the people look happy. Farmers and merchants trade and sell to one another, but even that exchange seems almost like a formality: no one seems anxious to save enough coin, or worried about how much they can afford.
No one tries to bother you, but they don't seem bothered by you, either. A few even wave or dip their heads as you pass by, like neighbors might. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
she nods politely back, but... it seems like a nice place... ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
Good morning, Requiem.
[ The speaker is no one you've seen before—just guardswoman greeting you as you're halfway to passing by. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
Uh-- hi, do I know you??
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
I suppose not very well. But you travel with General Amakura, don't you?
1/2
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
--Sorry, it's still kinda early for me, you know how it is. Amakura?
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
I speak of the Lady Amaranth, of course. Sange Village's guardian.
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
hopefully it passes off as a bit embarrassed rather than anxious. ]
Oh, yeah, totally. Definitely traveling with her. That's completely normal and not weird at all, haha, wow!
[ AND. ALREADY WALKING AWAY, ]
Anyway uhhhh have a good day!! Seeya!!!!!!
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
A good day to you as well!
[ So that's one awkward(?) conversation escaped.
You can of course remain in the village and explore some more; maybe do some shopping.
Or you can take one of the roads out of the main town: there's back where you came, towards the upper river; a road east; and a road continuing south along the river's course. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
she probably should have asked where amaranth was. but there's something anxiety-inducing about-- about confronting her, in this "world," where she's clearly something to her instead of something rooted in bitterness and awkward connection.
she browses some of the goods being sold; things not necessary items like food. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
But there are other luxuries, too: beautiful draperies of fabric in red and blue and gold—ideal for formal kimono, perhaps. Finally, there's a smithy. Though it's not open like the shops, from within there is the sound of steel and anvil. ]

Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
The baker gives you a cheery bow of his head as you depart. So now you have some doughnuts. There's something a little giddy about holding them. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
She'll head towards the smithy, might as well check that out. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
Still, there's some anxiety that twists in your stomach, looking at this place. The door is barred, but you have the strength to break it down. If you wish to. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
she'll note this for later, though, and move on. towards the east road. ]
Re: BEGIN: The Road to Sange Village
...anyway, you can definitely head down the eastern road. ]
