Hiryuu Ideal World {Session 3}
Your character's primary goal will be to convince Hiryuu to leave her ideal world. This is ICly known.
For the bulk of your character's journey (perhaps, even, the entire journey, depending on what they do along the way) your character will not have access to their unit's powerset. Please see the START for more IC information. Depending on how you go about your quest you may or may not encounter dangers or traumas.
Any items that your character had on their person before entering the game will remain with them for the duration of the game! However, all technological items will cease functioning before they leave the start area. Please see the START for more IC information.
In order to provide some guidance, key components / places are bolded, but just because something isn't in bold doesn't mean you can't interact with it. Go wild!
Your channel and ping for the duration of this game are both #/@dragonworld; please join your runner in the chan by typing .iam dragonworld in the roles-assignment channel. If you have any questions, or whenever your character is making an action/moving or otherwise needs gamerunner attention, you can ping me there.
Re: EAST // The Forest
Then that means I never got them back!
[ Something
very dark begins to creep out of the locket. A tiny, tiny shadow. ]
Re: EAST // The Forest
[She sees the necklace fall out of the corner of her eye, but she's more focused on Hiryuu at the moment.]
I'm sorry, Hiryuu.
Re: EAST // The Forest
[ That tiny sliver of darkness? It suddenly lashes out. It grabs Shuten by the ankle and pulls him, hard, straight off the log he's been sitting on this whole time, expanding wide, like a vicious smile until it is big enough to swallow him whole. It's too fast for anyone to stop it from happening--he is suddenly, simply, gone.
Hiryuu
screams, rocketing out of her seat, grasping desperately at the space where he just was. ]
No! NO! Give him back! Give him back!
Re: EAST // The Forest
THAT was not something Northstar was expecting. She tries to get off the log to do something about it but before she can even take one step, he's just. Gone. She sucks in a breath and looks at the darkness, going back to the necklace.]
Hiryuu. Hiryuu. [Northstar tries to grab her arm and pull her away from the darkness.] We need to get away from that thing, we need to get out of here!

The bad news is that things are getting progressively worse. The camp grounds have become chaos; the other men have leapt to their feet, are going for their weapons. In their haste, the vat of soup cooking over the fire is overturned, dousing the flames with liquid. It goes out, almost instantly, only leaving starlight and embers to show what happens next.
Hiryuu--pulls against Northstar, trying to reach for them. ]
No! Not yet, we can't leave them here. I can't lose them again--
[ She reaches--for Abi--but he too is sucked into that gaping hole. ]
Abi! Abi!
Re: EAST // The Forest
"Your friend is right, Princess, and you know it. You have to go."
[ Hak looks over his shoulder at them. ]
"You never had us back to begin with, hime. If you really want us back--then you have to keep going. You know it."
Re: EAST // The Forest
...is the phone working long enough for her to turn on the flashlight? She's gonna try and turn on the flashlight.]
Hiryuu, I'm sorry that it's going like this, but you have t-.... [She stops right there. Between Hiryuu's panic and her friends telling her she has to go, she can't say it right now.]
Oi, all of you! [She addresses what's left of Hiryuu's friends.] No matter what happens, I will protect your Princess, my friend...with my life, if I have to! If you believe that, then I need you to have faith in me! Do you understand?!
Re: EAST // The Forest
Yoon and Yellow, who up until now had seemed rather out of sorts and uncertain as to what do, snap to once Northstar gives her orders. The former arms himself with a spare metal pot that he uses to scoop up some of the still-glowing embers from the fire. Meanwhile, Zeno--is picking up stones from the ground. If you can throw a juggling sack, you can throw a stone.
As for Kija and Hak.... ]
"Oh?" Hak's eyes brows raise but he still looks a bit deadpan. "Do we have another grandma pirate? No wonder Shuten was interested..."
"Hak! Do not be so disrespectful!" Kija thumps his chest with his overly large hand--that just keeps growing. "Of course, ma'am; we Dragon Warriors will guard the Princess with our lives, just as our forebears did. It is our sacred duty, gifted to us from the dragon gods, and proud honor to be the Princess's first and last line of defense. You can count on us--"
"Oi oi!" Hak baps Kija on the head with the blunt side of his spear. "You keep talking so much and you're going to miss the whole battle, proud White Snake!"
"HOW DARE YOU INSULT THE MIGHTY HAKURYUU BY REFERRING TO ME AS A SNAKE!"
"Well, put up or shut up, if you're so mighty--or else I'm not going to leave you any."
[ --They continue to squabble on back and forth like this, but in the meantime, Kija has managed to grow his hand (just the one clawed, scaly hand, mind you) to a truly gargantuan size. ]
Re: EAST // The Forest
Anyway. Northstar sucks in a breath. She's never done this kinda thing before and she has no idea what the consequences are gonna be, but... ...she's made her decision to at least try. She hits a button on the phone where that free offer came from. She highlights one of the abilities.]
Alright. Buddy System!
[And she activates it, empathically linking herself there with all of Hiryuu's friends.]
Re: EAST // The Forest
in becoming connected to their hearts, Northstar gets to feel--a lot of protectiveness, and love, and adrenaline--these boys love a FIGHT, most of them anyway, and it's what they're good at--and their loyalty is unwavering. They would unflinchingly lay down their lives for the Princess.
However, in doing so, she is also becoming directly connected to the larger heart that has been used to create this stage and its emotions can be distantly felt as well: a feeling of fatigue, of deep worry and concern that threatens to verge on the point of despair and resignation, deep dependence. ]
Hak twirls his staff in one hand and whistles. "That's a pretty good rush right there. I think we can handle the rest like this." With a whip of air he stops twirling the staff, poising it in an offensive position.
"Yes! Truly, this feeling--it must be like being connected with King Hiryuu himself." He looks starry-eyed, practically; it seems like... he really, really enjoys being Buddy System'd. "Why, I could fight a dozen darknesses and--"
"Stop bragging and start fighting, Kija!" This from Yoon, who is working to try to reignite a small fire in his pot.
"Miss," Yellow says, "are you going to fight with us, or are you going to escort the Little Miss home?"
Re: EAST // The Forest
Hiryuu. I'm sorry. But for your own well-being, I can't let you stay here.
[Because she wants to be sure that she's deciding this part herself.]
But I won't let your memory of your precious friends be running away while they're dragged into the darkness! [She walks towards the boys and stands among them, adjusting her footing and striking a fighting stance of her own, raising her hands up.] I'm going to break this miscreant down before it touches them or you!
[NOW she's letting those feelings of wantin' a good fight in.]
Re: EAST // The Forest
Hak flashes her a grin. "Right, then, Granny. We're gonna distract this thing for a bit--Yoon here's trying to make a fire. You think you and the Princess can gather some wood up? This thing doesn't seem to like the light very much, so the more we can get, the better."
Re: EAST // The Forest
Hiryuu. Over here.
[And then because time is of the essence, she goes and quickly executes her plan to make some wood for them to gather, PUNCHING THE SHIT out of a nearby tree, making a lot of smaller pieces of wood in a hurry.]
Re: EAST // The Forest
I'm sorry I panicked, Northstar.
[ There is--a feeling of distant but sincere shame. ]
I haven't been a very reliable unitmate for you so far. ... And I should have believed you, when you said this place--isn't real.
Re: EAST // The Forest
We can talk about it later.
[She tries to keep any rebuke out of her voice because she can feel that shame and she really doesn't hold it against Hiryuu, but. She's got a lot inside her head right now, so she's trying to stay focused.]
What matters right now is we keep you and your friends safe.
[She brings the wood back to Yoon and his pot.]
I hope you're planning to do more with this than make the monster some soup.
Re: EAST // The Forest
"Trust me. I'm a pretty boy genius."
[ While they've been busy gathering up wood and the remaining fighters have been distracting the shadow thing, he's been pouring together powders into a second bowl. ]
"Give me your sticks."
[ He doesn't really wait for permission--taking the sticks and coating the ends of them with the fine powder. ]
"When I give you the signal, I want you to stick the ends of your sticks into the pot with the coals--and then throw them at that thing. You got it?"
Re: EAST // The Forest
[Northstar takes the stick back.]
Just a formality, more than anything. Do you have any idea if this is actually going to work?
Re: EAST // The Forest
[ He appears to be a bit insulted. ]
"You really think I'd steer you in the wrong direction?"
Re: EAST // The Forest
[She raises a finder.]
But I can't help but notice that you didn't answer the question.
Re: EAST // The Forest
[ The shadow thing lashes out again--and only just barely does Hak manage to avoid getting taken. ]
"We don't have much time... Now, Northstar!"
Re: EAST // The Forest
Take this! [Rather than throwing her stick, she lunges forward at the darkness, putting herself between it and everybody else (but, y'know, keeping herself low to the ground so the rest of those sticks getting thrown don't just clonk her instead) and swinging her stick at it.]
Re: EAST // The Forest
"It's working! Hit it again!"
Re: EAST // The Forest
[Northstar slips away for a second to grab one of the ones that missed the mark off of the ground. Then, she lunges again, swinging one arm after the other at the darkness, repeatedly.]
You're going to give! Those! People! Back!
Re: EAST // The Forest
As it becomes smaller still, the shape--solidifies, until it has a vaguely humanoid silhouette. It's slightly feminine--with long flowing hair--and seems to be off-balance on its feet. -- Which it shortly rectifies, as many wings open up and it takes to the sky.
Hak throws his spear at it--attempting to nail it down to a tree--but the spear passes into the unknown thing and doesn't come back out. ]
"Dammit! It's getting away!"
[ Kija moves as though to bat it out of the sky with his giant claw, but Yoon shouts at him, ]
"Don't! If you touch that thing, you'll end up just like the spear!"
Re: EAST // The Forest
Give me the rest of the sticks - and whichever one of you is the strongest, pick me up and throw me at it!
