Requiem's Ideal World run #1

Oh. You have a text-- wonder what that's about?
...
...
?
Hey, there's some junk in here that's not in the right spots. Take a good look around and fix that jazz. Everything's got a place or whatever.
No sense in hiding from yourself, right?
... what is this, a text for ants?
Re: the candy kingdom
"Ah, yeah. I found this recently; ain't mine and ain't one of the candy peoples', so maybe you can find something better to do with it." He removes a tiny journal from his pocket and hands it over to you.
Re: the candy kingdom
Re: the candy kingdom
When you pick the journal up to flip through, you find it's empty, until a yellowed flap of paper falls out, looking older than you might expect.
You unfold it to read and find that it's a page of... obituaries? haphazardly glued together into one piece; every mortal friend, family, or lover Requiem has ever known is listed here, having lived a full, happy life and died peacefully and surrounded by the people they loved.
Reading it makes something deep in your chest ache, but you desperately want to push it away and pretend it doesn't exist. ... this doesn't belong here.
Re: the candy kingdom
With a breath she stuffs it back in the journal, and stuffs the journal into her bag—not far enough but...hopefully far enough to not have to feel that pain, though there’s a separate ache at having to give these back at some point...one that she’ll have to deal with later.
Eventually, she turns back to the others. “Uh—thanks. I know who this belongs to.” She looks around the square again. “I’d better keep moving... You had any other giant troubles or something you need looking into?”
Re: the candy kingdom
Bonnie seems contemplative for a moment, before turning to Hurricane and saying, "Actually, could you run the perimeter for me? Make sure the Guards aren't just playing cards or nothin'."
"Oh, sure?" He pauses a moment to close the gap between you and him, so he can tug you a bit closer by the arm and press a kiss to your cheek and say, "See you at home!"
And then he's off.
Bonnie waits until he leaves the castle before turning back to you, with a frown. "So you realized, huh?"
Re: the candy kingdom
Re: the candy kingdom
She shrugs, with a lopsided, awkward smile. "It's a nice dream, right?"
Re: the candy kingdom
She shifts again, also awkward. “You...Ah. You guys made up?”
Re: the candy kingdom
She pauses, then gestures to the door Hurricane went through. "Would you be jealous? The part of this dream that's you means you're as happy as she could manage to make you, as well."
Re: the candy kingdom
Gestures at the location. “Like—some things’re pretty obvious. But other things seem kinda...funny.”
Re: the candy kingdom
Re: the candy kingdom
She takes a breath after all that, folding her arms around her middle and bowing her head. "I don't wanna ruin her happiness--any more than I already have. But--is she really happy here? That's...what I gotta know before I do anything."
Re: the candy kingdom
"But uh, more importantly, where you gettin' seven girlfriends from? I won't say she doesn't love Sabre or Ashley but they got their own stuff to worry about, she knows that. And you... well, she loves you." A pause. "Her happiness isn't dependent on possessing anyone, you know. She's totally aware that Hurricane comes first for you. You being happy makes her happy."
Re: the candy kingdom
"...What about you, then? Even I know you're important."
Re: the candy kingdom
I might be important, but-- well, she's a vampire, and I'm immortal too. I'll be here long after the rest of you pass on whether I'm her friend or not."
Re: the candy kingdom
Re: the candy kingdom
Her last adventure."
Re: the candy kingdom
She sighs, looking down. "Anyplace else I should look before I head back to her? I gotta-- I wanna spend some time, before. Uh."
Re: the candy kingdom
There's a long pause before she continues, soft, "... you don't have to either, you know. You could stay-- be happy. Live a good, long time, having adventures with everyone.
Be loved the way you deserve."
Re: the candy kingdom
And she drops her gaze again. "Anyways, I ain't the only person in here. So--it ain't all up to me. But...if I got the stuff, at least I can kinda--control it, maybe. At least...that's the plan."
Re: the candy kingdom
Re: the candy kingdom
And she hooks her thumbs in her pockets and makes to leave, probably to check out whatever part of the castle grounds she hadn't seen yet, then back towards scary city, since it seems. Ominous.
Re: the candy kingdom
the further you go, the more things start to look decrepit and ruinous-- you can smell the acrid tang of smoke, see the flames reaching over the edges of the building. you can see the sickly green clouds curling higher and higher, towards the sky, the howling faces of miserable spirits screaming in unison as they spread over the land.
huh, that was weird! when you blink, everything returns to normal. sure some of the candy buildings are a little crumbly, but it's a bit much to expect the gumdrop people and banana guards to keep up with this when they have other things to attend to.
Re: the candy kingdom
She takes a little closer look through these obviously run-down scarytown areas, since. This.
Re: the candy kingdom
The locals are still pretty cheery though.
