[ buuuut they really can't do much to keep you from getting any closer, besides, of course, the occasional smack, so if you've got the health to spare, or you just don't care, then you'll have no trouble getting up closer & personal with the gems. if you stare into one of them long enough it's possible to see snippets of a memory involving you and d.va. something as mundane as a casual conversation to something as intimate as a sexual encounter. anything and everything is here, though the majority do seem to be ~*~fun~*~ stuff, like most notably... talking about love with shrike, teaching & riding motorcycles with haru, swinging around tokyo-f & tagging buildings with nero, playing games & watching movies with hurricane, doing sick stunts with nemesis, and sparring with gladio... and, no, he's not wearing a shirt in the gem. ]
[ on even closer inspection, when the gems aren't distracting you, it'll be possible to see a number of them are lousy with cracks and on the verge of shattering. ]
[ he can avoid them. the tree isn't that effective at defending itself. ]
[ he'll be able to see a snippet of a memory from the marketing sim game, where she tried to help during one of the rounds and inevitably got everybody downvoted and hurt. another gem, though it's not nearly as broken, shows the recent conversation they had. all the broken gems seem to show something that she felt bad about. ]
[ and soon all of the gems are healed, and there are only nice memories playing now. playing games. doing stunts. burning cookies. the tree pulses with each and every fixed gem, until it's beating with a steady rhythm. ]
[ the tree... isn't stable at this point, and it eventually starts to break apart. the gems wedged in it just fall into the strangely colored grass and where the base used to be sits a heart. ]
[ hurricane had touched all of the cracks gems, healing them up, which caused the tree to start beating. haru will get a chance to see the tree wither away, leaving a heart behind. ]
[ hurricane managed to fix all the cracked gems, so now only good memories are playing in them. nero will get to see when he, lumen, and d.va were carving a middle finger out of a turd. when they were wrestling with that stupid tent. when they were sharing a tender moment in his van. ]
[ the tree has also been destroyed, leaving nothing but those gems and a broken heart. ]
[ he could take a couple of gems, but that goo is kind of gross. the heart could probably use them more than he could besides, and it beats more steady with each and every patch! ]
