This room is not real.

That's the first thought that crosses your mind as soon as your consciousness comes back up. You're not even sure if that's your own thought, but the feeling doesn't leave no matter how much time has passed. The room looks nice and cozy, but everything feels wrong. You don't belong here, you're you, aren't you?

You'll soon notice that there are other things that just isn't right. You can talk, but is your mouth moving? You can see, but are your eyes blinking? You also have ball joints. Nothing hurts, and you're fine, but it's a little weird.

Guess they figured one set of kissing was enough, now nobody should have worries anymore?

How many of the other units will come after us?

...They gotta go after four, but you can do the same four every round. If you figure a couple teams'll avoid us...all the rest, I guess. Depending on if they got four other teams they hate more.

...Guess we could try to take somebody's aggression...or something?

Self-preservation. Taking that means they won't play to win. . .

Yeah. Give that to the teams what play hard, and...I dunno, the self-sacrifice from the teams that don't, and we should hit an equilibrium without Bad End or Pep trying to off us for opposite reasons.

We can't give anything to any of the other teams.

Play on. Whatever.

Take self-preservation from Taisho, Bad End, Btones, and...Wild City or Zrael...or Lilis, I guess. Then take self-sacrifice from Pep and maybe Heart Soldier, so they don't just start killing people to get it all over with. That sounds like a good start to me.

Maybe we need to take "the messed up believe that murdering people is mercy" from pep.

I mean, there's plenty fates worse than death, here. But for a team that don't eat that much shit, they shouldn't be forcing the rest of us to.

I know that. But they shouldn't get to decide it for me, any more than they should get to decide my life's worth less than their dumb friend on Alcheme, or whatever.

Mm.

[pauses]

...Not that we ain't doing the same thing.

We're not. We're not killing them. We're protecting ourselves from them.

[She pauses, then adds, sounding defensive and oddly pointed:]

I'm not going to feel bad for protecting myself.

You can feel however you want. In fact, everything'd be better if everybody just played to take care of themselves.

But us playing to protect people we more-or-less care about ain't any different than them playing to protect people they more-or-less care about. It's shitty all around is what I'm getting at.

I never said I didn't. But at least I don't go around telling them I made my choice based on what was deserved. Like somehow trying to protect themselves and the people they favour is "right", but when anyone else does it, it's "wrong".

[She nods, no argument to this]

...Wonder if we could just sacrifice a whole person. Like--their well-being, and then nobody can take that away...right?

What, like––one of us?

I don't know if they'd let us. . .

Yeah... Might wanna do something less than that at first, I guess. Depending on how the game interprets it...
