I figured out pretty early on - no one stays a child in Hell. But you were the first person who saw through that I was missing something. I didn't have the humanity you did, because I wasn't entirely human.
But you're not one to let anyone off the hook with excuses.
Well, I am only a quarter demon. I'm human enough to want to be different. And I'm stupid enough to realize I oughta listen to people smarter than me.
But you're right. Eventually I realized, even if you had all the things I never did-- you didn't have the freedom I had. To be a kid, choose a future...
Even if you weren't Jason's little brother, I'd still want those things for you. 'Cause I'm a hopeless child adopter too.
It's a story about a perfect city. Everyone's happy, no one suffers. But in order for things to stay that way, one child has to be sacrificed t'live in the dark, starving and hurting in secret.
Some people find out, and figure - that's the way things have to be. And others are so disgusted, they can't go back to living there anymore. And they leave, even though they have no idea what's out there in the world.
If you really thought that, then would you have really made a protection plan for all the units?
It might not work. Everyone might get punished instead. The easiest thing to get behind would really be just to have one unit be the target of every bad game.
Hell, some units have even tried to make themselves the target. It'd be the best for everyone to just go along with it, right?
Re: LEVEL FINAL
[ Looking a little smug at that complement ]
Does this mean you'll take me more seriously now?
Re: LEVEL FINAL
Please. I always took you seriously. I wouldn't care so much about what you think of me if I didn't.
Re: LEVEL FINAL
Re: LEVEL FINAL
You're tough, principled, moral - I knew that before Jason ever showed up.

...I do not believe it was humanity you lacked. If you did then you wouldn't have been receptive to anything I said.

Re: LEVEL FINAL
There is a long line of people ahead of you who feel the same. It makes me wonder if my father's adoption habit is really as odd as everyone says.

Re: LEVEL FINAL
I'm sure even Jason does.
Re: LEVEL FINAL
It isn't meant to be about what I deserve. It's about what the people deserve.
Re: LEVEL FINAL
Have you heard of Omelas?

Re: LEVEL FINAL
It's different if it's anyone else, right? But because you chose it, it's okay.
But choosing something for yourself isn't selfishness if you've got people who want to see you happy.
