Vergil's heart game r5
You feel weak, your body won't move no matter how you try, and you are falling, away from everything you know and love. Away from everything you need to accomplish. If you could just reach out, maybe you could hold on to it, claw your way back. But it's a useless endeavour, you fall unconscious, and your mind goes blank except for poetry and a familiar voice.
O mother Enitharmon, wilt thou bring forth other sons?
To cause my name to vanish, that my place may not be found,
For I am faint with travail,
Like the dark cloud disburden'd in the day of dismal thunder.
My roots are brandish'd in the heavens, my fruits in earth beneath
Surge, foam and labour into life, first born and first consum'd!
Consumed and consuming!
Then why shouldst thou, accursed mother, bring me into life?
You wake on the ground in a cave, cold, wet, and sticky. It smells of rotting flesh. Your objective is clear, but you can't recall a name or face. Nothing else about your memory of him is changed, but for some reason the name "Vergil" just won't come to you, and you couldn't describe how he looks if your life depended on it. But at least your body starts to respond to your will, slowly regaining enough strength to carry on.

PETRIFIED FIELD
Of paved heaven,
With sorrow fraught
My notes are driven:
They strike the ear of night,
Make weep the eyes of day;
They make mad the roaring winds,
And with tempests play.
Like a fiend in a cloud
With howling woe,
After night I do croud,
And with night will go;
I turn my back to the east,
From whence comforts have increas'd;
For light doth seize my brain
With frantic pain.
It takes some walking, how long have you been wandering through caverns? It becomes more and more difficult to tell them apart. Have you already been this way? Do you know how to make it back? Do you even know where you want to end up?
The area opens up into what looks very much like a field of feather grass and wildflowers. The grass however is a light lavender shade, and the red petals of the flowers seem to glow. It's light here, the sky muddled and grey like night, but still, this is a far cry from the near blackness of the fleshy caves. The rock outcropping that looks like coral reef is almost beautiful. It could be nice to rest here.
You're getting tired. You should rest, it's awfully tempting...

Let's just...sit in the rock outcropping. just for a minute.]

As you sit there among the rocks, you'll notice something. It looks like there's something caught on one of the spikes - a book hanging from its cover, the pages rustling.

(For anyone who's already been in Raven's heart, you won't remember having been there before, this is just a backdoor entrance. You can tag into it to snoop or just handwave a look around/leaving immediately as you like)

Re: PETRIFIED FIELD
But finally there's... an opening, and fresher air, and space around him. Levity breathes out in relief, stepping out into the field. It's... rather beautiful. He looks up at the sky - it reminds him a little of the dream Hades had shown him, of the skies of Amaurot. Just... needs more lights.
Levity walks some distance into the field before picking a place to sit down and just. Watch the sky. Are there any stars or anything? If there's nothing to note about the sky, he's going to poke at the grass and flowers.]
Re: PETRIFIED FIELD
The grass might be a strange colour too, but it's light and fluffy, tall enough just to brush your knees. It makes the patch toward the centre that is either missing or flattened quite distinct. And when you wander in, the culprit becomes obvious quickly, a painting, large enough it's nearly life-sized, almost as wide as your arm span.
Re: PETRIFIED FIELD
Levity crouches down to try and touch the painting.]
Re: PETRIFIED FIELD
But you start to feel too drowsy to go on, eyes heavy, relaxed. This really is a peaceful spot, whether you're conscious of the choice or not, you're soon laying down.
The grass tickles your skin, itches slightly. Should it be able to touch your bare shoulder?
Re: PETRIFIED FIELD
But it really is nice here, so... yes. He's just going to lie down, close his eyes contentedly. He's tired, after all - what harm is there in rest?]
Re: PETRIFIED FIELD
Before you know it, the grass weaves itself around your legs to strap them down. Some of it pierces your flesh, as the bit creeping up your shoulder has done, working its way deep within. The ground around you is soaked with blood, and the flowers - they are much larger than they were before.
But do you even notice the problem before it's too late? You need to spend 1 Perseverance to get out, but you don't have any...
Re: PETRIFIED FIELD
Levity does only notice when it's rather too late, tries to raise himself up - which would be easier if his shoulder wasn't in so much pain suddenly. He struggles frantically, heart beating madly with fear and realization of imminent death, but it's rather in vain. He notices the suddenly-larger flowers, but he's not in the state to understand what it might mean, even if the implication is clear enough.]
Re: PETRIFIED FIELD
You don't have the strength to escape, it's a pointless endeavour. The grass grows excessively long to meet you, and every blade of it you laid on works its way into your flesh. It is, at least, only a few moments before it finally finds and crushes your heart.
You wake up in the cave again, cradled in the spindly, steel arms of half a dozen hooded, faceless, wraith-like creatures. Or so they appear. There's no life in them, no more than a statue holding you upon its lap not unlike the Pietà.
It sloughs away into nothing the moment you stand.

But suddenly suits of armour drop out of a portal. There's 7 of them all together, they're about 9 feet tall. And now they have their sights on you and move in.

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!
Vivi, you need to run! I'll catch up with you, but get out of here! Now!
Re: C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!
At least someone else appearing splits their attention. The leader calls the soldiers to it, and turns to Lily.
Levity could manage to escape as long as he does it quickly and Lily keeps their attention. But she doesn't have any Perseverance left, so...well the best she can do is hold them off long enough.

She just hopes Vivi doesn't pay for her mistakes.

Lily?!
[He moves to follow her first, but, well! He doesn't have a weapon, and even if he did he doesn't know how to fight, either. He would likely just be a hindrance here, but it feels wrong to just leave Lily alone--
--but is it more wrong than staying, ruining her concentration in the fight, possibly dying, right in front of her? Levity clenches his fists desperately, but--yes, he has to trust she'll be fine, he knows she's a good fighter, and he should just go already--
Levity forces himself to drop back to the entrance to the caves, heart racing and a pit of anxiety in his stomach, turns towards Lily one last time. A little late, it occurs to him that he doesn't know where they could meet up: the caves are nearly a labyrinth.]
I-I'll meet you at the heart!
[...listen, just because he hasn't seen anyone else there doesn't mean that no one ever goes there. He didn't know Lily was here until this damn moment, after all.
With that, Levity does a sensible thing for once in his life, or afterlife as it were, turns and flees back into the caves - to the heart room, if he can make it after all.]

But as for Lily, you can try to fight, but you're just not strong enough. You're so, pathetically weak. The leader cuts you down, cutting right through your shoulder and down to your hip. At least you could save someone you care about. Even though you couldn't save yourself, you did something for Levity, and what greater gift could you give him than trading your life for his? Even though it hurts, and you feel so weak for dying like this, you feel happy, too. It makes you feel like you're worthwhile.
