Eclipse's Heart Game ☉ Session #2
You drift like you're floating in water. It's almost relaxing, actually. As long as you don't think too hard that what you're floating in may be bottomless, because under you lies only a deep darkness that only the ocean can provide.
Then something grabs you and drags you deeper, down, down, down into the abyssal depths. You can't breathe, but that's not on the forefront of your mind now, is it?
There is a mounting sense of anxiety and dread.
Who do you want to become? Will you even get to see tomorrow? What if all roads lead to ████████? Can you still stay '███'? If people see the ████ you, will they think less of you? Will they feel cheated?
You want to live. Even if it's a ███, even if your hands must be covered in █████, you want to live. You want to be '███'.
Finally, a voice pierces through the darkness. It a woman's voice.
"My, how unfortunate. Your journey ends before it even begins."
"... Just kidding. That would be terribly boring! I suppose I can do the boy a favour just this once."
You feel someone grab your arm and pull you up to the surface.
...
When you come to, you are standing somewhere else.

Eclipse really likes knowing things, huh.
[ She makes her way towards the whiteboards first ]

For one whiteboard:
Whoever's doing this one is working from limited resources. Several names are written: Ordine, Phoenix, Serenity, Lancelot, Saturn and 'WAR G☆D', and a few others of people who aren't in Tokyo-F.
There's a bunch of arrows between the names, the most prominent one being the arrows from and to Ordine and Phoenix ('extremely important, it seems'). The line between Lancelot and Phoenix is labelled 'instructor and student'. Some seem more speculative, like the line between Lancelot and Saturn ('classmates?'), which seems to be based on the fact that both Lancelot and Saturn seem to know Phoenix.
It's...kind of messy. There's a fair number of people. Eclipse is doing his best.
And for the other whiteboard:
One whiteboard looks like an attempt to keep track of a bunch of people's relationships with one another. The main part of the board has a few names listed: Shrike, Amaranth, Persephone, Sashay Silfda Eistria Dagger AAA Absolute Zero Slaughtervodka (yes, really, the whole thing), and 'Me'.
A little above those is another group of names, put in a circle labelled 'The First Age'. Some of the names are Tatsuo 'Violence is Inescapable', Spring Born Wind, Gryphon Salient, 'Brother', Black Hound, 'Earnest Idiot', and few more.
Shrike, Amaranth and Persephone are grouped a little more closely together and put in a circle called 'The Hundred Kingdoms'. The lines drawn between Amaranth and Persephone are labelled 'mother and child'. There lines between Shrike and Sashay's names, but that's just labelled 'well it's Something'. 'Me' is in a circle labelled 'Wu-Jian'.
In the First Age circle, There are lines drawn between Spring Born Wind, 'Brother' and Black Hound. The line between Spring and Hound is labelled 'more important than I can imagine'. There's a line drawn between Tatsuo and 'Earnest Idiot' too. Another line from Spring goes out of the circle to 'Me'; the note is 'Excuse me I inherited WHAT'.
He's been pretty diligent about this.

B
- Seems kind of self-conscious about being viewed as overly plain or uninteresting which, fair, but I kind of wish he was less self-deprecating about it sometimes
- Doesn't cope well with witnessing, suffering or enacting violence
- Something about anime? I don't exactly understand it but he's used the term before when describing people who are kind of 'out there', so to speak
- Interested in art
C
- Likes a lot of weird stuff. If it's weird he's probably at least curious about it.
- Was in a 'murder school', which just seems like a way of saying 'murder game' that is styled after a school
- More than willing to take on the role of being a 'nuisance' and 'villain'
- Was the leader of a gang? organisation? previously that played pranks on people
- I'm pretty sure he lied to me about not buying memories before when he had in fact been buying them at some point
L
- She cooks, she sews, she also does art Honestly she knows a lot of things?
- Extremely scrappy and resourceful, she's also been through both murder buildings and didn't die
K
- I'm pretty sure he has some kind of background involving violence See: How to garrotte properly
- However, seems to have operated as someone on the fringe, i.e. his work isn't considered unsurprising for someone to end up in where he's from
- Sporty sort of person
Q
- Has occult knowledge and training, can summon demons with preparations
- Really likes this one book series called 'Kimi Monogatari' and will extol its virtues if given the opportunity to it's...okay, I guess?
- Knowledgeable about 'social media', generally enjoys getting to be the authority on something if she can
Tea
- Dragon Not like any dragon I've heard of, though
- I actually don't know if those 'ears' are really ears? Would it be weird to ask?
- Don't talk to her about cages. Don't put her in a cage.
- Doesn't like shoes either (see: dragon)
S
- Stress cooks at least between the three of us we'll be good on the food front
- Calloused hands. Not in the same way you get callouses from manual labour. Likely experienced in battle even though he doesn't really remember it.
N
- Needs (????) water. At least does not seem to do well if not soaked periodically.
- A (former?) god that grants wishes, supposedly Don't like it don't like the way people talk about it I refuse
- The cult may have had something involving cannibalism?????? I don't know how much of it is a metaphor and I hope it's a metaphor because otherwise NO

Don't know if you can hear me, Eclipse, but you can ask me about anything.

Rye
- Really, really, really likes dragons
- Interested and skilled in building and making things
- Tends to get stuck in his own head and runs his thoughts his circles. Makes him really prone to anxiety.
- Has a very hard time believing that other people believe in him.
- Grew up on an island, comes from a seafaring people? Comes from 'North', I think.
- Honestly, even though we're not from the same world, he works off pretty similar references, so he seems to understand some things more easily than others do.

That's enough nosying around in here, I think.

There's one large table in the centre of the room, which has a huge writing slate laid on it, along with some pieces of chalk. Next to it is a piece of paper with a cat's pawprint (a contract...?), and a book with an olive drab cover.
Various writings are scattered here and there on the slate, like some work-in-progress collection of thoughts.

The shelves here are fewer and shorter compared to the main library room, and there are several tables, but they're filled and covered with various books and scrolls. One table in particular has some blank, wooden slats, brushes and inkstones.
(Yes, inkstones. If you want ink, you're going to put in some elbow grease.)
A couple of the wooden slats on the table already have something written on them, though you'll need to take a closer look to read them.
On a wall is a wooden board that also has wooden slats hanging on it. You could take a closer look?
Oh, and there's also a ... boy (?) in green robes sitting at a table against the wall. At least, he looks younger than Eclipse, but even with his back turned towards you, you get the sense that he's much older somehow. There are books and scrolls opened up around him on the table, and he seems to be busy with something. Quite grumpily, if the mumbling under his breath tells you anything.
There are two exits: The door behind you, and a door that leads back to the main library room.

Hello!

"Oh, someone finally showed up."
-- That is definitely not the voice of a child. This is a really deep voice that easily belongs to someone at least three or four decades older than he looks.

Yes, I'm here, hello. Were you expecting people sooner?

Hope said we should.

Tea can probably take a look at the wooden board hanging on the wall, if she wishes.
"... Of course she'd say that. Did you take a look at the slate in one of the rooms?"

He rubs his temples with his fingers, clearly at least a little annoyed about what he's about to say.
"He's been privately having a fit over his name and can't make up his mind on how he wants to proceed. It's getting petty enough that I'm starting to think some getting outside input is better than none."
no subject
no subject
"... Shit, he is at that age, isn't he."
He sighs.
"He'd loathe to call it something that sounds as dramatic as a 'crisis', but I suppose him struggling with this was a long time coming." One hand taps its fingers against the desk. "The part where he feels like he got played by some higher force over his damn name was just the straw that broke the camel's back."
no subject
Hmmmmm, hm, well ... [ Rubs her chin ] Tell me more about it. I don't want to suggest things without understanding his feelings first.

"He recently found out he's the unwitting heir of a deeply problematic legacy. As far as he knows, he's come into great power, but with that also great responsibility, great consequences, and the very distinct possibility of great madness in his future. It's overwhelming, he can barely comprehend it, and that's on top of learning some unpleasant truths.
Of course, he then proceeds to lose his shit over his name, because finding out he unwittingly set himself up for the irony of being named 'Eclipse' over 280 days ago makes him feel foolish. He deeply dislikes the person who suggested it to him as well, so it's become more unpleasant with this discovery.
... It's just him trying to focus on something 'smaller' though, because the bigger question of 'what do I do with myself from now on?' is harder to answer."
He says it so bluntly that it sounds a little harsh, but he doesn't seem unsympathetic towards Eclipse either.
"... And there are far too many other things in the background that don't help. You may be better served looking at and touching some things in this room and in Perception, if you want to learn about the rest of those."
