It is all over, unfortunately. There may be some areas within his heart where you can destroy what you find, but if the area is too strongly covered I think it would be safe for you to focus your attention elsewhere.
My suggestion to you is to consider the types of things he cherishes, even despite the current deterioration of his heart. Right now, the corruption inside this place is desperately seeking his true heart. If it finds him, it will be that much more difficult to destroy when it attacks. The best result would be that you find him before it does. And for you to fix or make positive changes and decisions while searching along the way.
This is still his heart though-- you should take care while inside it. No matter where you are, once the corruption breaks through our barriers it will attack you and your companions who have found themselves here. It would probably be best to fight it in a location that will not destroy things of importance to him.

I do not know where he is at right now, unfortunately. My only advice would be to perhaps look in places that you think might be important to him or would hold special meaning.
