The world doesn't play favorites. Its harsh and bad things will happen by chance.
And people....people can be much the same. They can be cruel and greedy. Or they can be angry and defensive. Sometimes they're just scared, so scared they'll do anything to stop being scared.
But not everyone. There are people who are kind and generous and brave and so very caring. Or even just people who want to live simpler lives, who don't want to hurt, just exist, but just choosing to not be cruel can sometimes make the world a bit easier. Someone who farms is going to feed their family, right?
Protecting means that that person can protect someone else, and then they do the same, over and over, until eventually the world has enough people willing to protect and save and be kind that maybe people won't be so cruel anymore. As long as those lives can be saved, the more those lives can touch others, and hopefully change those people who were choosing to be cruel before they force the hand of the person protecting.
[ The pause is punctuated with an approving smile. ]
That guy- he thinks it's only all about what he can do with his claw. But in the end, it's more than what he can do physically. He gets all hung up on it, being on senstiIV. But you've got a pretty good understanding of things I think.
[ He tosses something up into the air toward Rye. And it looks to be... a black scale. It feels warm... and you can tell, it's something important. ]

I don't know where his heart is. But it wouldn't be in a place like this. It's gotta be somewhere he feels safe, right?
Honestly, I'm not sure that this is a good place to touch. You've got a lot to worry about already.
White Snake-- he places a lot of emphasis on his duty and what's important. But- What does protecting someone mean to you?

Yeah, people can get like that, when they're protective. They try to do it all on their own. But protecting is something that spreads.
Especially with a heart that cares.
