I don't know... if he wants to tell me more sometime, he can, but I don't really want to take advantage of it like this to get more information. It already feels invasive that I'm here.

Refusing to talk to anyone is what landed him here, unfortunately. He's been trying to bury me for a while now - and he was close to succeeding.

The library contains all of his knowledge and beliefs. So, these books are what he knows and believes - about himself, and about you and his relationship to you.

Mm... I never really keep my past a secret, but if no one asks, I don't talk about it either. It's not like I think it's exactly the same, but it feels similar.

[he moves to sit on the floor and sighs]

My father married my mother for the sole purpose of creating a quirk that was stronger than what he had, so he could climb a ladder and become "the strongest", using someone else as a tool to achieve his dream. He didn't care about anything else. She suffered for it. My siblings that came before me weren't "successes" because they didn't have the quirk he wanted. I did. And it's not like I was meant to be more than an extension of him, not my own person.

[he rubs at his neck, and looks up]

I wasn't allowed to see them, all I was made to do was train to become his successor and nothing else. He drove my mother to a breaking point and she ended up in the hospital after she tried to burn my left side off of me with boiling water because she could see too much of my father there.

Sorry, it's kind of a lot, I suppose, but...

[He listens, and Duality's book glows a faint red as he speaks.]

The pressure of being someone - or something - you're not, I suppose. Even if it's for different purposes in the end.

Mm, I was only focusing on revenge the entire time until I turned fifteen and I enrolled in UA.

I suppose he was a catalyst, almost. For me to realize myself. It's a very specific memory for me. And he was my first real friend.
