It truly is something I prefer not to discuss, but, well -- it is difficult to keep secrets in these sort of games, it seems.

I understand. It's why I wanted to thank you - I know you do not open your heart easily... So it's worth being grateful for, I think. Even if, or maybe because this wasn't truly by your own volition.

I confess I am not too well up on that manner of social structure, but... if it is anything like our Bureau, any position of "power" is a position of responsibility first and foremost. That is the purpose of that power, to be used to fulfill one's duty.

Perhaps he improved while I was ... indisposed. But I was not there to witness it. And it's been many years since then.
