[ You all wake up in bed with your smartphone at your bedside, all of you in your sleepwear, with a message on your phone.

Good morning, newly departed guest stars! You've got new co-stars to meet, a new dorm to explore, and the television in the main room with the "names" of everyone in your unit with flashing empty boxes next to them, waiting for you to each assign yourself a personal color as well as a mythological creature (if that is available to you—some of you will have that option grayed out). Or assign them to each other, really, no one's stopping you.

Once you've chosen your color and creature (or, once it's chosen for you), your closets will unlock with 3 sets of traditional Japanese clothing fitted exactly to your size. Additionally, upon choosing your creature, you might find yourself suddenly with some new appendages (check Player Notes).

Also, the front door is currently locked. It looks like you actually have no choice but to get to know each other for an hour or two before those open up. ]

[This tall blonde guy eventually makes his way out of his room, brows furrowed, and when he takes a hand through his hair in frustration you can see a dimly glowing golden marking on his forehead.

He's dressed in a modesty robe that's serving as his pajamas, and he's closing his eyes and taking a deep breath to calm himself, the glowing in his forehead subsiding.]

[Some guy is wandering around when you wake up, poking curiously at the furnishings and decor. Most notably, his sallow complexion makes him look like he should be in a sickbed - though he seems energetic enough.]

Hey, heyyy, about time you woke up!

[Also just wearing a thin robe for pajamas. He is definitely Looking (up, because he's much shorter than 6' 5") at the forehead marking.]

[ There's a small girl who exits her room, looking almost doll like as she greets everyone with a smile, looking almost proud of herself as she speaks up. ]

It's nice to meet all of you, I hope we can all get along and score the most points. Nipah~☆

[A painfully thin boy of about twelve years old stalks out of his room in a button-up pajama set - glances over the door, and then the screen, and then those gathered.]

[After a moment's consideration, he selects his inputs: an unforgiving creature of the winter, and a bold, unapologetic shade of yellow. Then he turns to face the room at large]

Hurry and make your selections. We need to talk strategy.

[Leaving her room, a silver haired girl with red eyes scans the room for every point of exit, and takes count of every person present; her stance is rigid and alert.]

...I have to get out of here.

...you're interested in winning their "prize"?

[ That seems to be an affirmative, as she nods. ]

Even if I wasn't, I always play to win.

[ She's known what she's wanted the very moment she woke up, so she's already made her decisions. ]

Did you have something already in mind for 'strategy', sir?

I doubt I'm going to be much help. I don't... I wouldn't be good at games. And I'd probably only make your chances of winning worse.

[ a girl in a simple sleeping yukata walks out and walks straight to the tv, inputting a color. her youkai has already been chosen for her, and the signs of it are already showing, a pair of triangular black dog ears sat still and upright on the top of her head

her expression is blank. her eyes are mostly blue, but the outmost rings of her irises are a vivid red. ]

Please excuse me.

[ she walks back to her room without talking to anyone,

and comes back out clothed, pulling the mask down into place over her eyes. there are two swords sheathed at her waist. ]

Why do you think that you wouldn't be good at games?

Although I guess if you're not good at that, then... you'll have to get points another way...

[Looking at his forehead for a moment, her eyes narrow. Well then. She doesn't speak up, but he's likely to feel her eyes watching him. She's similarly dressed in a light robe that served as her pajamas.]

Lives have the highest point value, so we need to focus on those.

There are a lot of us, so everyone has to pull their weight in case the winners are determined by point average and not total.

We won't have more details on the game until later, probably, but we can make sure we're in a good position for the secondary method going into it.

...I don't really know many games. So skill is out of the question. And luck...

[ she goes off to get dressed first before really talking to anyone, and now that she's back her voice is slightly muffled by her mouth covering ]

I don't mind helping out with the Lives, and I'm sure that I'd be good at any game that comes our way. One of our Lives is 'offerings', but do you think we can use that to get even more points?

I can teach you. I was part of a games club back home, so we played a lot of things.

[ it's virtually impossible to read her expression through her mask and face covering, but if you look really closely through the eye holes you can maybe make out a bit of how her eyes go wide, and the outermost rims of her otherwise blue irises change from a vivid red to an emerald green. she talks with a measured, wellbred intonation, all courtesy with little emotion given away ]

It's possible. No one will give us more points than they earn in exchange for the live, but if we ask for small amounts, those will add up, too.

Mii. I'll do my best. There are different sorts of games, usually. There's board games, and games that deal with words, and games that deal with being good at athleticism.

At least... back home. Here, it might be different.

Getting a small amount of points from a lot of people still winds up being a lot of points. And I think it isn't a bad strategy.
