[ You all wake up in bed with your smartphone at your bedside, all of you in your sleepwear, with a message on your phone.

Good morning, newly departed guest stars! You've got new co-stars to meet, a new dorm to explore, and the television in the main room with the "names" of everyone in your unit with flashing empty boxes next to them, waiting for you to each assign yourself a personal color as well as a mythological creature (if that is available to you—some of you will have that option grayed out). Or assign them to each other, really, no one's stopping you.

Once you've chosen your color and creature (or, once it's chosen for you), your closets will unlock with 3 sets of traditional Japanese clothing fitted exactly to your size. Additionally, upon choosing your creature, you might find yourself suddenly with some new appendages (check Player Notes).

Also, the front door is currently locked. It looks like you actually have no choice but to get to know each other for an hour or two before those open up. ]

[This tall blonde guy eventually makes his way out of his room, brows furrowed, and when he takes a hand through his hair in frustration you can see a dimly glowing golden marking on his forehead.

He's dressed in a modesty robe that's serving as his pajamas, and he's closing his eyes and taking a deep breath to calm himself, the glowing in his forehead subsiding.]

[ a girl in a simple sleeping yukata walks out and walks straight to the tv, inputting a color. her youkai has already been chosen for her, and the signs of it are already showing, a pair of triangular black dog ears sat still and upright on the top of her head

her expression is blank. her eyes are mostly blue, but the outmost rings of her irises are a vivid red. ]

and comes back out clothed, pulling the mask down into place over her eyes. there are two swords sheathed at her waist. ]

[ As much as he tries to be discreet, he can't hide the fact he's watching from a fighter on her level, and he's even more obvious when he goes over to the tv, copying what she just did and picking a color.

Or more accurately stares the TV down like it has personally offended him. ]

[It really is a shame he can't go invisible anymore (that he realizes), because his current pajama set screams eleven year old and while that may be true, it's frankly so mortifying he almost wishes he could just crawl under the blankets of his? room/shrine??? and stay there.

But he's dead, so that's not really an option.

So instead have a small child trying his damnedest to slip over to the TV to figure out what the heck he's supposed to do so he can get some real clothes.]

It's kind of hard to tell if this person's horns and ears and tail are all natural or not, though; and the red tiger stripes over their skin is only visible under their sleep yukata because, frankly, she doesn't seem to be very inclined to keep it tied more tightly.

Is everyone here? Good. Thank you for your hard work today, and for answering my message.

An alliance between our own unit and my previous unit, avante en garde, has been proposed. I have called you all here to ask what conditions and requests we may hope to gain from the arrangement, and also what we are willing and unwilling to offer in return. They require all of us to be in agreement with this alliance, so if anyone refuses to comply with it, then I will tell them that it will be impossible.

Since some of you are unfamiliar with our surroundings, if you will graciously grant me a bit of your time, I will attempt to briefly explain what sorts of benefits and drawbacks there may be.

In this place, there are events called 'games,' which will be key to determining whether we are victorious over the other temporary units and granted our rewards. Some of them are innocuous, like word games, but others will most likely be violent, and may inflict emotional or mental effects upon us. When these dangerous games occur, units are typically pit against each other; the damage that we suffer will be determined by the decisions of other units, and we will be made to decide on other's fates as well. In this sort of arrangement, it is sometimes possible for us to choose which units to inflict such damages against; therefore, with an agreement such as this alliance, it is possible to guarantee that one unit will not harm us, and we will not harm them in turn. The most basic proposed form of this alliance is 'not to target each other with physical attacks.'

From my relationships to them, I am aware that several members of avante en garde would prefer physical injury over foreign influence on their minds. It has not been specifically requested of us as of yet, but I would prefer to avoid targeting them with such attacks as well, if we are able. If there is anyone who is particularly susceptible or concerned about mental effects among us, then we may request the same of them in turn.

Outside of games, it may be possible to request their cooperation in lives for an additional increase to our overall point accumulation. For innocuous games as well, since there are often multiple winners, we could potentially arrange to cooperate with them for a shared victory whenever the rules allow. However, point accumulation and winning bloodless games are lower priorities for them, so we may be expected to offer something else in return if we place too much emphasis on these requests.

Occasionally, there are also games involving social or physical intimacy. The majority of avante en garde are a relatively reserved group of people in this regard, so these considerations may be unnecessary, but please speak openly if you would like for the alliance to involve any restrictions or boundaries in this regard as well.

It is my own opinion that a simpler alliance without too many conditions would be easier to uphold for both of us in the face of any unexpected complications. However, since all of us must agree to the terms, please speak freely about any thoughts you have on the matter for now.

As for myself, should they request of us to offer our favor or protection to any units aside from avante en garde, I will reject it.
