I'm aware! I helped arrange that. Well, mostly I told everyone that it was kind of stupid and wouldn't actually fix anything and is actually really wasteful, and then told everyone who agreed with me that they're idiots, and then everyone ignored me because I had zero seniority.

Then I helped out anyway! It was pretty exciting.

Anyway, everyone forgot because the kids these days, I don't know.

...admittedly I made my peace with that some time ago! I'm not really looking for a second chance myself, but it would be a little inconvenient right now if someone were to kill me.

My parents died right in front of me when I was a child and I thought that was neat, actually! The kidnapping afterwards was less neat.

Haha, no way! It's like a joke, see? Everyone's always waiting for the punchline, and it's way funnier if it's something they don't expect! But if you tell a joke when nobody's expecting one, then they just think you're kind of weird and don't want to talk to you anymore.

For various reasons, I have an unnatural preoccupation with being seen as a normal girl (or boy) who doesn't have an obsession with the transitory nature of things, so having lived my life that way I just have the sort of personality where it's waaaay easier for me to do the thing that doesn't make people think I'm weird and instead do the thing that makes them think I'm a loveable rogue that can and will backstab them at any moment for a bigger paycheck, so that when I don't do that at the most critical, fateful, and narratively convenient moment, they trust me unconditionally just in time for me to get them to do the thing I spent all that time conditioning them to do!

..............I have to admit you're not quite pulling off the "not being perceived as weird," here, not that I terribly mind.

Then again, I was never very good at convincing anyone of anything, largely due to not trying, so perhaps I can accept that you're more knowledgeable about it than I.

I keep getting told that I seem weirder when I'm trying to be normal than I do when I'm not so I've started to figure it's just Fate punishing me for stepping out of line.

Fate seems to have rather a predilection toward that.
