BALLROOM
The ballroom unfurls beneath a dramatic double staircase, an echoing shell meant for crowds much larger than one the units of Tokyo-F can provide. A cascade of brass and smoked glass hangs above the waxed hardwood parquet, amber by reflected light. Plinths of brass hold up pillars of smoked glass, behind which flickering lights dimly illuminate the room. Everyone's figures seem cloaked half in shadows, and while you can see everyone's shapes, the room's lighting seems to render everyone in a strange sort of caricature, with some features obscured and others highlighted. Beneath the alcoves of the stairs chairs have been set up for a band, though there's none in attendance now.
. . . There's no one here but you.
Guess there's nothing to do but wait the night out. ]

He probably shouldn't let himself feel relieved. But there's definitely at least a little of that slipping through to show up on his face, briefly, as the tension he had in his shoulders going in this room loosens.]
