Murder Mysterium - Day 5
Who: You!
Where: The Game Tower
When: TBD - Day 5
[ When morning comes, you find yourselves more than freed from your rooms—the mansion collapses behind the last person leaving, completely and utterly demolished. There might be a couple rooms left standing, but . . . you certainly can't have a murder mystery game like this.
The game isn't quite over yet, though.
You may access the twin garden mazes, encouraged, even—there are alcoves in the gardens with flowers wrapping around the gates that are to your unit's color, and upon entering them you'll be able to speak to your unitmates without fear of being overheard, as though there were some sort of soundproofing barrier. You may only enter your unit-specific alcove. There are also plenty of other non-unit specific alcoves for you to enter and converse with someone, but it won't be entirely private—these pockets don't have soundproofing. Players should comment to relevant private threads that are being eavesdropped.
But before you run off to discuss—
You'll want to gather around the fountain.
Its water's stopped, though rather than any stillness in water you can instead see . . .
The details of each murder, as well as the rules, are available on your phones, and in fact, that and the photos app are the only things you can access on your phone right now. Your powers are off too, although you were allowed to bring whatever items are ordinarily on your person—provided they aren't any weapons. ]

[ feels guilty for his lack of self control. The ground is VERY INTERESTING TO HIM RIGHT NOW. ]
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
Do you think I am here to scold you?
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
[ sweats, shoving his hands into his jacket pockets, mumbling a little quietly. He doesn't want to disappoint Zhongli, and he can't bring himself to lie to him, either. ]
—Maybe... a little...
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
[ How could he not ]
Did someone say something to upset you?
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
[ And he motions Aether to lead the way. ]
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
... Ever since Day 1, I haven't been eavesdropping on anyone, but it was impossible not to catch a few words here and there. I didn't think much of it until the morning after the first murder, especially with... uhm the cat ladies. I would have thought the mainstay units trusted each other more to not immediately go to the worse possible situation of a malicious intent. The game is so obviously made that the only way you could be sure you don't kill anyone if you don't have a pact agreement was to be a victim with no weapon at all.
And I picked up on a lot of finger-pointing towards all the new units, even when there wasn't initially any evidence because of things like "remember what that unit did last time they showed up here?" or "they're all so blood-thirsty" it "they're all like this."
I get it, the new units are less trust-worthy since we have been here only a little time. What I don't understand is why so many playing this game seem to think automatically that the "killers" are awful, terrible people who are delighted to cut people down. However, if it was their unit in the same position, it would surely be "an accident."
[ aether kicks one foot against the ground, before tensely continuing. ]
Today, someone who claims to be a regular got into a fight with a member of my team who has been calling the most shots because he admitted that we were responsible for SensitIV's death. But, somehow, the story they got out of we knew how to play the game perfectly and went out of our way to ruin their alliance and kill his friend, all because we were so desperate too win.
[ Aether grits his teeth. ] It's just so easy to sling shit in people's faces when they don't like what they hear, right?
Venti's dead because of a choice I made. I convinced everyone in my unit to go to the Conservatory.
But... If you are a 'regular' of this place, as they claimed to be, how do you not get how this game works? Why is there so much finger-pointing that at least someone has to be a intentional "bad guy" ?
[ Aether is upset, holding back frustrated tears the longer he goes on. This is the first time he's talked about this and it's clearly been eating at him. ]
Why is everyone here so victimized and apparently the only one one with friends that matter?
Why did I pick that room? Why did I pick for Venti to die?

He places a hand on his shoulder. ]
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
We both know that the guest units have more at stake than the rest of us. But that is hard to see when those that you love and care for are hurt or sacrificed. So I cannot blame them for being hurt.
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.

The tension eases out of him as he slumps a little more against the pillar. ]
You're right. And it's wrong of me to expect anyone here, "regular" or not, to "be used to" to death happening, especially if it's people they care about.
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
That... and... I would be struggling all alone right now if not for you and Childe. Maybe seeing it is a little too much of a reminder that I should consider myself lucky.
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
[ He pulls his hand back, seeing that Aether seems to be in better spirits and hums to himself thoughtfully. ]
And while it's true that you may be more fortunate in some aspects knowing some of us here, that too, has its drawbacks.
Use that to your advantage but do not think that you should forgo what is important to you just because you think you have it easier. Everyone's situation is different here. I do not know if they are even comparable.
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
I don't know what I would do without you. Thanks for everything. Back home and here too.
Re: gets on the fountain soapbox ledge to throw a fit.
You would persevere as you always do.
But I am glad - selfish as it may be - that I am allowed to accompany you on this section of your journey.
