you can probably get away with calling his 2000 years prison sentence his job. long overdue for a vacation!

Whoever it is, they seem to startle at Absinthe's voice—but then there is the now-familiar warbly, static-y speech.

And also familiar, as Absinthe rounds the boulders, is the scene that opens up - it's the bird-Levity, his shape still flickering between bird and human, sitting on his knees by the corpse of... also Levity. Surely, this has never happened before!

The bird-Levity trills something quite happily on seeing Absinthe, gesturing towards him. Friend???

[ he waves, just as casual, back though his eyebrows are arched in curiosity. is corpse Levity also phasing between bird and human? ]

I hope I am not interrupting your meal.

[ jokes? ]

Corpse Levity is staying human! Looks like it's the regular Levity - as much as you can differentiate between what's "regular" and what's "unusual" here.

The bird-Levity shakes his head, then gestures towards the corpse.

"█̡̰̥̓̈́̎͟█̮̞̞̇̏̋ ̜̙͓̭̙̯̅̎̀̏́̾͗͟█̡͉̹̲̙̭́͌̑̍̊̆̔͜█̢̺͎͓͍͒̇͋̚͘ ̹͇̲̩̆͐̎̅͞ͅ█̡̠͓̤̬̩̈̍́͒̚͘͞ͅ ̳̟̩̞̑͋͒̚█̟͕͕̹͖͈͐̽̓͂̀͂̕͟█̫̖̬͍̓̌́̕.̧̩̟̼̖̹̞̿͋̉͗̓͊́"

Though the speech is still incomprehensible, much like in that dream there is a sense that maybe, maybe Absinthe could understand not the words, but what they mean.

And the understanding that arrives this time seems to have something to do with waiting.

[ he tips his head, and then moves to kneel down beside the friend, gesturing to the corpse. ]

Waiting for what, precisely?

Perhaps surprisingly, friend looks up and points at the sky, the gathering storm clouds in the far distance over the sea. There is a hint of deep red, or perhaps brighter purple in them now.

"█̤͓͗̄̀͟█̼̤̙̰͍̅̄̈́̓͡█̩̣̥̒̄̈͟͞ ̥͈̣͚̇̆̅͘█̢̦͚͋̐͘.̪͍̗͍͓̖͑̔͌̐͂̕"

Bird-Levity stills, thinking, before turning to look at Absinthe - but for some reason, it's never quite possible to see his face. As the shape flickers, there's always something hiding it, even if not completely - the cowl of Amaurotine robes, the mask, the visor Levity wears in Imeeji, the metal features of the assistant.

"█̢̛̪͓̝̥̺̆̐̌̆̀█̛͍̺̩̣̘͎͊́͑̕͝ ͕͗█̛̖͚̺̼͚̈̾͊͝█̯̖̭͉͐̇̀̓̓͟ ͉̱͕̆̐̈́͊͜͝ͅ█̼̹̈́̔.̼͔̈́̽ ̡̝̘̙͓̀͂̇̈́͋"

He tries again, and this time his words are more understandable.

"shortly. and always. nothing... but wait."

Do you wish for it, or do you fear it?

[ curiously he reaches to touch an arm-wing-sleeve. ]

The touch is allowed! Where Absinthe touches it stays the same shape as it was at the moment of contact, but the rest of him keeps shifting. He looks a little... confused at the question.

"n̰̉o feà̡r̡̒. ̤̓no wish."

Bird-Levity looks up at the sky again, with a soft smile.

"it has already come. and it will again. and i wait."

I see.

[ he gives the arm a pat and then looks at the corpse, ]

And him? Does he also wait?

Bird-Levity shakes his head with another smile.

"too late. him first. then me."

And were there others before him?

There's sadness in his voice now as he gently combs through the deceased Levity's hair... and then just as gently slides his hand down, fingers becoming steel blades, to slit the corpse's throat, carve off another piece of him, bring it to his own mouth.

"only pieces left. never whole again. but i can keep them safe."

wonder who could have helped with that. his eyebrows raise again but he seems more amused than disgusted, though. ]

And that is safety, for you?

Bird-Levity smiles again, lips bloodied.

"part of me, this way..."

You've taken that suggestion of mine very seriously, have you?

Maybe you shouldn't have talked vore at him if you didn't want him to?

He hums, tilts his head.

"...way of mortals. to feed on others. become something... else."

You are hardly mortal yourself, my friend.

He nods, smiling happily - friend to help him keep Levity safe by way of symbolic(?) vore!

"you too... are part of things he was."

A touching sentiment.

[ he says as he prods the corpse, ]

I'll have to ask that you slice a piece off for me.

He nods, seems to gather himself a little - and one of his arms stays a more permanent shape, though still a mix of flesh and steel merging into each other.

"which?"

I've always been quite fond of his face.

[ he taps a cheek, indicative. ]
