Mm... We get more points if they don't make it to the other goals, right? So, if they come over here to find this one, they'll get stuck in a hole or a horse... Guess that worked well enough in Tokyo-F to stop people.
Preventing others from getting to the goal means we'll have a better chance of winning ourselves, ultimately—though it doesn't affect our chances directly.
What we'll want to do in order to get more points is damage them—well, it isn't really hurting them, but in any case, we'll want to make them spend as many lives as they can.
Killing 'em--uh, video-game-killing 'em shouldn't be that tough. 'Least, so long as the bears and the horse comes through. Just gotta knock 'em into pits enough times I guess.

I think a heavy emphasis on traps here would be good—if we can block them from entering the next room, that will be good for us.
