[ Your unit-colored kitchen has all the basic necessities for cooking, but strangely, there's no refrigerator. There's just a table full of pebble-sized crystals. . . There are candies available in bins next to the crystals as well.

Though you can technically turn the stove on, you can't actually hurt yourself on it. It's like the flames are illusions. Huh.

Upon entering your unit-colored kitchen, you'll find that you can't see or hear anyone from any other kitchen. You're aware that this whole area is magically sight- and sound-proofed; no other unit will hear or see any conversation you have. ]

Today, you are making Simple Omelet! You will need the following ingredients:

• Eggs (1 sour, 1 salty, 1 savory)
  
• Cream Cheese (1 sweet, 1 sour, 1 savory)
  
• OPTIONAL: Onions (1 sweet, 2 bitter)
  
• OPTIONAL: Tomatoes (1 sweet, 1 sour, 1 savory)
  
• OPTIONAL: Garlic salt (2 salty, 1 bitter)

(Optional ingredients are there in case people show up late—they will otherwise not affect your score.)

On the tables are pebble-sized crystals. Hold a handful of the crystals and share your memory (through talking or memoryshare candies) and the crystals will turn into that food!

Characters are aware that the cooking process will be done with guidance, so all they need to worry about are the ingredients. Tasteless ingredients such as flour and cornstarch will be provided for them, so those ingredients are not listed.

1 (Savory) - 2, he wasn't super trying to hide details so much as he played off a lot of how much he hateshateshates the ghosts by talking about it in the more lighthearted way he usually does.
2 (Sour) - 3 he kind of forgot how much this memory affected him, and he's...pretty glad that it was this one and not something else.
3 (Salty) - 4 reliving this memory was too much of a shock to hide anything about it

[Takes a handful of crystals, also reaching for the candy. Time to share a m e m o r y (starting at page 9). In this memory Shiemi meets Rin for the first time and overreacts to him being a demon, attempting to crawl away from him...it quickly becomes clear she can't walk. Eventually he gets her to calm down by helping her with her gardening, for which she is grateful as she can't get around with her legs as they are now. Another boy, Yuki, looks at her legs and explains it's the work of a demon. Shiemi tries to deny it, even telling her mother she hates her to try to avoid the topic. It comes to light though that she made a deal with a demon out of guilt over her grandmother's death and the desire to protect the garden she treasures so much as atonement. Rin starts to attack the garden to force Shiemi to face the foolishness of that decision, causing her to break down in tears over her choices. Which, in turn, causes the demon that tricked her into the deal to take her hostage and attack her new friends. Rin and Yuki are able to stop the low level demon and Shiemi, now able to use her legs again, she goes to her mother at Rin's urging and apologizes, starting to cry again.]

I...made some bad choices. Out of grief and guilt... I'm still embarrassed, but.... I am very grateful Rin was there to shake me out of it. I'm grateful I got to meet him. And it reminds me to try and make better choices. Be better.

So back home, I have the power to see ghosts. It's not something I can control or turn on and off, and it's not like--friendly nice ghosts. People who stay ghosts are usually people who died violently and sudden deaths! And they tend to stick around in the way they died, so it's like-- Bleeding and dripping and dragging around bits of themselves. And the longer they're ghosts the less sense of self they've got.

No one else can see them, so as soon as they realize I can, there's usually a lot of screaming and yelling for attention, and they usually don't really know what they want anymore, so it's just--really loud! And really scary. And also I can't usually tell who's alive or not until I see some sort of gaping wound. Fun times!

[ there's definitely a sense of adrenaline as he talks about it, dread pooling at the pit of his stomach and hysteria at the back of his mind, a steady terror kind of underlying the whole thing. despite all of that, he's just saying it like "and then I had pancakes for breakfast," easy and grinning. ]

Yeah, sometimes. And it's like-- It's not just one time, you know? They're in almost all of my memories. Going to the diner for doughnuts! Gotta deal with the dude with the broken neck and the lady that drowned. Walkin' down the street! There's a guy who got hit by a car. A kid that got strangled in that alleyway! A whore who had a bad john! Kinda hard to tell the druggies apart, though.

[Hopefully you wanted some adrenaline. Again, Shiemi takes the crystals and a candy. Though it may not seem like a very action packed memory at first...with talks about Satan and final challenges...it quickly turns into a physical battle against Amaimon, the demon king of the Earth, as well as Shiemi regaining lost memories from her childhood (until page 16). Also wow, wasn't Shiemi's grandma dead, but I guess that's how spirit guides and/or demons work. At any rate, it seems like Shiemi has grown as a person a fair bit since the other memory, but time chambers will do that.]

and this memory comes up, of when they waited for Dad to say goodnight and he didn't even acknowledge them. There's a deep-seated feeling of shame and humiliation, along with the hurt. ]

[Similarly, as she grabs crystals and takes a candy, it may not seem like this memory is particularly sweet at first. In the memory she is escorted by people in white robes to an impossible garden and taken to, what is, told to her to be her palace. She is scared and essentially alone, surrounded by ladies in waiting that bathe her and dress her in extravagant robes like a doll but won't speak with her or eat with her. The loneliness is crushing and she excuses herself to, essentially, have a panic attack in the bathroom. Only to run into an unconscious Rin, who causes her to laugh and cry in relief. Her resolve is steeled and she smiles and thanks him through her tears for being like the sun to her.]

[ You made a Simple Omelet! While it isn't 10000% perfect, it's also full of heart and emotion; ultimately, it's a little on the sweet and salty side—it could definitely stand to be a little more savory—and but importantly, it gets you a 34/10 score!
