And then it immediately starts again because another laser fires from elsewhere. When that one eventually hits the cutting board, another laser fires from elsewhere, and so on.

just gonna feel out the mirrors and walk around, trying to get an idea of what the perimeter is. kind of like navigating through a maze—she's keeping her right hand on the wall and letting that guide her to see if she can find an exit of some sort ]

The maze is endless. Unnavigable. Where are you? Where is anything?

At the end of the maze is another set of stairs, leading upward.
