[...leaaaaaaans over a bit to get a better look at her face to try and gauge if she's hurt or smth. He doesn't want to harass somebody who's just having A Bad Day cause that's Fair.]
"Those are lovely names. Nyx like the night—and 'Fawnlily' is a flower, right? I'm Iris, so we both have flower names." She seems a little warmed—maybe because it's easier to reassure other people than herself?
"Ah, if you're here to read, though—I don't want to get in the way. But I can only... be glad that others are interested in the topic of love. It's... what makes the world worth it."
"Ah, well... if you love something very much, but then it's gone..."
She gives a weak little smile. "Or if you believed in something a great deal, and it didn't work out. If you don't know how it feels... then I'm glad."
...I think, there's somebody I love, who I can't see right now. And that makes me really sad, but- I thought, maybe that's just selfishness, and proof that I didn't really love that person very much.
[Does he actually understand how that feels or are his feelings BAD and WRONG and NOT VALID despite being NEGLIGIBLY SIMILAR on the SURFACE ONLY? Hmmmmmmmmm.]
Because... I'm living somewhere where lots of sad things happen, right now. So it wouldn't be a good thing for that person to be there. ...And maybe I only want to see him because I want somebody to fix the sad things for me.
"Ah, well..." She shrugs, lightly. "You're very kind, to have second thoughts about wishing that someone you care about would be where you are. But—I think if that person cares about you, too, even if you wouldn't want them to come to harm... they'd still want to find a way to support you."
[The answer is both "yes" and "no", because he's always thirsty for The Hugs, but also feels bad and awkward about receiving them- -but on the other hand this lady said she wanted company and was sad, so, it's not entirely for him, right? Right. So, it's okay if he goes over just a bit closer and offers his arms for Hug, clearly. (*He's holding the book so that it won't get squished)]
[This isn't weird at all, clearly. At least, Nyx genuinely doesn't find anything unsettling about it. He'll hug back, gentle in kind, before letting go.]
...yes, ma'am.
[Maybe it's only a token agreement, since he's not sure of his own "love". But he doesn't have any reason (or excuse) to say no.]
Re: EMOTION
Re: EMOTION
She looks like she's been crying blood? It's up to you whether you think that's an injury,
Re: EMOTION
Um- ma'am? Are you ok?
Re: EMOTION
She wipes at her face a little bit more. "Oh, I'm sorry, I've just... had a lot on my mind, I suppose."
Re: EMOTION
Re: EMOTION
Re: EMOTION
I'm- Nyx. Or Fawnlily.
Re: EMOTION
"That's a lovely choice of book, too."
Re: EMOTION
Mm, it's... nice.
[He can respect some solid Unconditional Love opinions.]
Re: EMOTION
Re: EMOTION
[Elaborating on what makes the world Worth It can only be a positive experience. Probably.]
Re: EMOTION
She dabs at her eyes a little bit. "Even if it hurts."
Re: EMOTION
[Isn't love supposed to be a positive thing? Is it still love if pain is mixed in?]
Re: EMOTION
She gives a weak little smile. "Or if you believed in something a great deal, and it didn't work out. If you don't know how it feels... then I'm glad."

"...why would it be selfish, if you wanted to see them?"
Re: EMOTION
Re: EMOTION
She really likes kids, ok.

[Now Nyx sounds like he's about to cry.]

I'm going to keep reading, since I'm supposed to write something, and not be late.
[He'll stay in the general area so the nice lady isn't Alone for now but get back to his books.]
Re: 3/3
She stands up, a little shakily, before he heads further.
"Would you like a hug?"

Re: 3/3
It's not a warm hug—she has strangely little body heat—but it's a gentle and soft one. She smiles a little more than she has previously.
"Hold onto that love, all right?"

...yes, ma'am.
