Hunger Games: Session 4
[ You find yourself in your respective unit's zone, with a mini-map on your phone, as well as your objectives:

Kill as many competitors as you can.
Destroy zones by breaking their statues.
Not enough action = We start killing you :)
Underneath the objectives is the number of revivals you have left, as well as whatever miscellaneous details about scoring points—killing a unitmate results in negative points, five units will be healed at most, etc.
The starting horn sounds. Let the games begin. ]

Have you found anything...?

[rolling Adaptability 10 (the +1 from Slingshot, though it's not reflected on my stats sheet for some reason)
Result: 21 (16 + 5 from Achilles Radar)]

If Alphinaud gets hit that's like 1d12 damage.

Wha-
[He hears the sound of metal coming loose and before he can even react it comes crashing down onto him. He takes 8 damage from his Henshin HP.
If Valor wanted to, he could just keep dropping beams on him.]

it works again, though; falling beams deal 1d12 damage when not dodged.

[His cry is a bit more muted as the second beam comes crashing onto him. His Henshin completely breaks as well.]

[Alisaie screams.]
Alphinaud!
[What happened here, what happened? Frantic, she rushes to his side; she struggles to wrest the beams off him.
[STR: 2.]
[It's not going to be enough. She's small. Light. Terrified.]

Ali...saie. [He can barely talk. He feels winded.]
Get... away. [He doesn't want her to be hurt too.]

[She's furious, she's shaking, she feels sick and she can't even see clearly, Twelve damn it. She thinks to summon her Aibou this time, and he, at least, is calm. Between them they manage to haul one of the beams off him, a little: enough, she hopes, that he can breathe.
[STR: 8]

Oh no.
When Zhongli does not immediately see the assailant, he summons his dragon aibou to float up above Alphinaud to protect him from more falling debris as he also tries to lift the beams off of him.
STR: 7
Which is enough for his to haul them a few inches to the side. ]

[ Spoiler.
It's not safe. ]

Skylark knows he's not going to be much help with the support beams, so instead he tries to see if there's anyone else around, because if nothing else he's deeply suspicious that an accident could just happen in a game where murder is the desired result. ]

oh. and Lark. smart of him to look around. sorry, kid.
once everyone's distracted--activating Machai Provocation, targeting Alphinaud. "Next action performed by all creatures in room must be an offensive action against target."]

[There's one thing
[one single thing
[that makes what has just happened to her okay, and that's a caveat she simply hadn't paid much heed to at the time: Heart Weapons do no harm to the ones that you love. She hadn't thought much of it because why in the world would she ever, for any reason, try to go for a loved one with a sword?
[Today - her hands shaking, tears in her eyes and spilling down her cheeks, no no no no no - she's stabbed her brother. And she fought it until the last second, because why would she be thinking of that one little caveat, now...? No sword she's wielded has ever worked so.
[And then there's nothing. No blood. No sickening thud as blade impacts body. Just her, bent over Alphinaud, a rapier buried hard into the ground beneath him, and she must have hurt him more in toddler rough-and-tumble.]
I'm sorry. Alphinaud. I'm sorry---
[She's shaking.
[In a moment, maybe two, she will remember it.]

And there's only one way to survive such an era and that is to fight.
ATK: 13
So Zhongli's spear sinks into Alphinaud's chest with the intent to eliminate any who would stand in his way.
DMG: 0 due to friendship is magic.
Look.
It may do 0 damage, but enjoy that nightmare fuel for the rest of your time at Imeeji.
Sorry, Alphinaud. ]

Pull him under pull him under pull him under pull him under down down down down --
His face is completely devoid of all emotion as he reaches to wrap his hands around Alphinaud's neck and tries to squeeze.
...It's probably very fortunate that he's a skinny noodle without a weapon. (3 damage) ]

[Later. She'll think about it later--
[Someone is hurting Alphinaud. She straightens, flinging herself bodily at Lark with a scream.]
Stop!
[AGI: 10]
[Ends up in the dirt with Lark pinned just as bodily beneath him, but he's not strangling her brother any more. That's a win.]

and when he glances back to see how the chaos is going, he sees that Alphinaud isn't?? dead??? HOW CAN HE NOT BE DEAD he just took a fucking sword and a spear to the chest okay fuck this if Valor can't get away clean, then he's going to do his damnedest to make sure that Alphinaud doesn't get out of this alive.
he scans Alphinaud with Achilles Radar to line up the best place to strike. it means moving out of the shadows in order to line up a clear shot his Slingshot, and anyone who happens to look back the way they came will see him clearly, but fuck it, he's doing this.]
[Rolling Adaptability 10 (9 + 1 from the Slingshot though that's not showing on his stats sheet for some reason)
Results: 15 (10 + 5 from Achilles Radar)]

Please don't hurt me, please, please, please-
He's absolutely terrified.]

[No words.
[There are absolutely no words for what this man is, but she finds one anyway.]
--you bastard!
[It doesn't come even close to good enough for him, bad enough for him, and all of a sudden everything about him is a provocation. The fury cuts through everything with a deadly, burning clarity and, in an eyeblink, everything is only beautifully, brilliantly clear to her. I will have your heart for this.]
no subject
[It's half an exhalation.]
I need your help.
[And she reaches out for him, somehow - how the power actually works she has no idea. It'll hit him with the force of a typhoon: anger, boiling and churning, shot through with guilt and grief and hopeless despair.]
You too, Zhongli. You have Buddy Bond, don't you?
