[ You find yourself in your respective unit's zone, with a mini-map on your phone, as well as your objectives:

Kill as many competitors as you can.
Destroy zones by breaking their statues.
Not enough action = We start killing you :)

Underneath the objectives is the number of revivals you have left, as well as whatever miscellaneous details about scoring points—killing a unitmate results in negative points, five units will be healed at most, etc.

The starting horn sounds. Let the games begin. ]

[At the shopping Street. Cardinal makes an angry, strangled noise, trying to fight against the impulse. They grab their throat with their own hands but it's no use, they burst into high, clear song until they're doubled over, hoarse and hacking blood.

Cardinal!

[Cardinal straightens and grimaces. They hold up a hand for "I'm fine", and summon a kmife to stab themself for five damage.

But when they open their mouth and try to speak, nothing comes out.]

[ There is blood splattered across her own front; she takes a moment to summon her own small blade to stab herself for a heal. (In her stress, she honestly very nearly severs an artery.) ]

Shit. Did that damage your throat?

[Just. Nods miserably.]

Ugh. Honestly, your voice is prettier than mine, too. It's a stupid waste.

[ It's an attempt at a joke, though her anxious expression somewhat spoils it. ]

At least we can serve as our own medics. Let's scour the stalls again to see if they have anything useful for this.

[Cardinal gives her a wry look and then breaks off to look around, rolling an 11 adapability]

[ She lets herself collapse to a sitting position on top of one of the market stall tents, relying on Stability to compensate for the constant jostle, then pushes a hand back through her hair tiredly. ]

So.

We're back where we started, in more ways than one. Operating selfishly, there's not a lot to be gained by continuing to explore—it just means losing our advantage here and opening ourselves up to more of... whatever it is the producers are doing with things like that song.

The question becomes whether we think we can help the others—if we should try to find Heart Soldier again, for example. Or your Alexander.

[Well, around this time, smoke becomes visible in the air. Cardinal tenses as if ready to spring toward the source, but soon after Alexander is getting bounced right to them.]

When equipped, adds 1 die to Ranged attack rolls or +1 to Melee attack roll result. If an attack roll contains eight dice that have rolled a 2 (i.e. the roll result is 16+), the target's HP is instantly reduced to 0.
