YULETIDE 2 - BATTLE 5

[ Once you enter the Escape Room, a series of messages pops up on your phones: ]

TOTAL⚓DISASTER: Wellll it looks like Naffy's out of commission? It'll take her awhile to reboot with how hard she just got hit by the autocensor!
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: Whatever you did, it really made her mad! Haha!
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: Anyway since I know what's going on now, I'm happy to help! It looks like the nature of the threat is a gang war between an evil thought sealed and another that you all and your fans helped to return to the world of the not-so-living? Wild!
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: In case you didn't get the memo, this means you're going to explore the combination WcDonald's and Damned Queen's Cookies!
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: There you'll find something you're looking for, probably…? But mostly you're looking for a way to contain the outbreaks!
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: And fortunately, we've received a message from a friendly entity known only as "The Borger King", who apparently has a stake in the downfall of Lonard's lost empire…
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: It says:
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: There is a war going on for your mind. Steal their secrets. Create the Ultimate Prankburger. The king awaits. Salvation will come.
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: Wow! It looks like it's time for corporate espionage, or something?
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: Anyway, you get to keep everything you find, unless it's a dolphin! That's mine.
TOTAL⚓DISASTER: Better get going! Charge!!!!!

[ And then everything goes white... ]

...Oh, Ren.

[ Aliza can't do much but be sad in the general area, but she's going to use the handkerchief she carries with her to at least clean off Ren's face. It's not enough to kill her friends, they had to cover them in goo? She likes sweets but yeesh. ]

[ She can't even laugh at the objectively hilarious clown nose because sads win out. ]

We'll figure something out. Promise.

[Once Kino takes care of her, she's wide awake and already stabbing herself with the two syringes she has. They only clear up the flowers and the wound she got from being impaled, but it will have to do for now.]

Is anyone else dead?

[She knows Serenity is, and possibly Venti who was in her pocket, but she doesn't know about their group. She's more concerned about others than herself and more concerned about injuries or dead people than anything else on top of that. Already she's trying to push herself to her feet.]

[ Gently putting her arms on Ren's shoulders. ] Kino is reviving everyone, but we don't have a sIV here who can heal anyone yet. Venti's still in his tiny form, but he's alive.

[ And then -- retracting her hands, realizing what she'd be thinking if it was certain other people in Serenity's position. ] You should go be with her, though. Even if she's not awake yet. [ Very careful not to use the word "dead" here even though it's true ]

[She sighs shakily and glances over at Serenity's body. Her hands clench into fists. She needs to focus now and help her.]

Do you or any of the others have syringes? I could probably use one or two on her to heal the worst of her injuries. That's how I managed. I used both of mine as soon as I came to.

Sorry, we don't. Lupine had to use our last one to keep Kino alive. Since you were -- [ Well. They only had one living pep! and it had to be that way. ]

[ Feeling extra guilty right now for using one of the doses when she got impaled, but Lupine didn't really give her a choice. ]

It's okay. I don't know how much healing Venti can do like that [aka being small] but if he can patch her up I'll just revive her.

[She hates it. It makes her feel sick just looking at her corpse, but she refuses to look away.]

I promised her if something happened I would bring her back.

I don't think he can do much. I'm sorry, Ren. [ She's never really wished she was a sIV (even though it would have made her life easier logistically) but she sure does right now. ]

If that's what you promised, then... [ Aliza worries that it'll be putting Serenity in pain for no good purpose, but promises between she and Ren are not her place to question. ]

You're sure Kino didn't have a syringe either?

[She hates it. She doesn't want to have to revive her girlfriend only for her to be in pain until someone can heal her.]

Who else was in your group?

Kino, Lark, Lupine, and me. [ She's sure they only had the one dose left, but if Ren wants to ask, to feel she's doing something productive, Alia won't stop her. ]

[ She's starting to get extremely cold now that she's not touching anyone, but she refuses to shake.
Instead her eyes glow, just faintly, as she tries to overcome the effect. ]

Maybe Venti will be back to normal in a little while. He wasn't sure how long it would last.

It's probably fine, then. I might have another syringe. I'll figure something out.

[Just going to lay down again for a minute. She's so tired. She wants blood too, but is refusing to ask anyone for it.]

I'm glad you're okay.... well, some approximation of it, at least.

I'm fine, [ she says, perhaps too quickly. She doesn't want Ren to worry, but more than that she doesn't want to be an afterthought, understandable though it is. ]

Do you need a drink? It might help. [ So much for refusing to ask; Aliza just assumes all vampires need a top-off after a fight. ]

I'll be fine, thank you. I think I'm just a little tired.

[She just wants to sleep a hundred years, change out of these clothes, and get this nose off of her face. Blood will have to wait.]

I appreciate it... but I also feel a little awkward accepting blood from you right now. I'll admit I haven't been entirely fair to you or Serenity. I haven't talked to her about you and I haven't talked to you about her.

[ Aliza looks startled for a moment, but it fades very quickly. She was expecting this to come up sooner or later; that doesn't mean she's thrilled about it, however. ]

I know about you and Serenity from others, so I get it. I'm not trying to interfere with that, you don't have to worry.

[ There's a reason she hasn't spoken to Serenity, after all. She didn't want to be the cause of any problems. ]

It's not that I think you would be interfering in any way. It's that I want to be honest with the both of you, that's all. I care about you both and because I haven't told her about you, I feel like I'm not being a very good girlfriend to her or a friend to you. That's all.

[She forces herself to sit up again, wincing because of the flowers growing out of her skin.]

I've just... I've had a lot going on lately. My mother recently returned to SensitIV and I've been keeping who I am from her. I don't want anyone to think I'm a liar or prefer to keep secrets, because I don't. I'm just... not a good person, I guess. Not lately anyway.

[ Well at least that shocks her out of feeling weird about Serenity. Congratulations? ]

Freya? She's your... [ Okay wow, give her a second. But she very quickly stops thinking about herself because -- ]

[ -- Freya doesn't remember her past, or even being here previously. And Ren hasn't told her, and Aliza can absolutely understand why she hasn't. What a mess. ]

I... I'm so sorry, Ren. Of course you've been distracted. It doesn't make you not a good person, it just means you're in a terrible situation.

She is. She's come and gone at least three times now but this is the first time where she didn't remember me or my father at all save for when we first met again here.

[Resting her chin or knees and hugging them.]

I just want her to be happy... but I miss her too. We were really close. It feels like I'm starting over again.

[ Aliza wastes a few moments being impotently furious at this place for doing this to Ren. It won't do a bit of good, but she can't help it. However, her anger won't help Ren any more than it could do anything else productive, so she shrugs it off. What she can't shrug off is another one of her strange feelings when Ren talks about starting over -- not the moment for that, either, but her odd non-memories never did a good job listening to reason. ]

That must be awful. [ It is awful, she somehow knows. ] There's nothing I can say to make it hurt less, so I won't try.

But if there's ever anything I can do, all you have to do is ask. Even if that means leaving you alone for a while. [ Ren's life is complicated right now, and she doesn't want to be another complication in it, however unintentional it might be. ]

Leave- leave me alone? I don't want that. We're friends, right? Even if I'm going through something bad, I don't want you to feel like we can't still spend time together. Spending time with you is important to me.

[Her voice shakes a bit and she knows it's because she's tired and can't control her emotions.]

I don't want anyone else to leave me.

I'm not saying anything about leaving you. [ She's trying not to be overly reactive here, but somehow she said the wrong thing anyway. Honestly, she wishes some of her social skills with Kitsu would translate better to other people. ] Just, if you need some time, I'd understand. The last thing I want to do is make anything harder on you.

But if you don't need that, then I'm not going anywhere. [ she tries to stay close, but doesn't touch, however much she wants to -- a few times she almost does, but she pulls her hand back, unsure of what's the best thing here. ] You're important to me, too.

[She holds her hand out to Alizarin.]

That's why I want to apologize for not talking to Serenity about you yet. I really like you. You're fun and you understand me a great deal. I know she'll be fine with it, but I want to talk to her at least. I haven't been good at communicating lately and I want to fix that instead of holding things in.

[Smiling warmly.]

Maybe when things settle down we can talk some more about things? I never really stopped to ask what you wanted out of this - [she gestures between the two of them] or how you felt. The last thing I want is for miscommunication to happen.

[ Wow, talking about something instead of just bumbling around and making each other feel bad like she and Nemesis do? Who'd have thought? ]

You don't need to apologize. If you want to talk, we can talk whenever you like. [ And she'll understand if that isn't terribly soon. If someone she loved showed up here and she remembered them without them remembering her, she'd be a mess. ]

But don't push yourself, okay? I can wait, you're worth the wait.

I appreciate it. I'm sorry things are so confusing right now.

[She feels like that's definitely her own fault and nothing Alizarin did.]

Well, I'm one thing you don't need to be confused about. I only wish things weren't so hard on you. [ And she means that. They don't need to be screwing around for her to care about Ren and want her to be happy. (But like, she won't say no if screwing around happens, she seeks comfort that way so it would make sense to her that others might too.) ]

I know it doesn't help anything, but if it was possible to give you some peace and happiness around all this, I'd find a way to give it to you.

I want the same for you. I know I'm a little - complex right now and even if things take a while to settle down for me, I'm here for you too.

[ She smiles a bit, rueful ]

You're not the only complicated one, don't worry. It's nothing I'd hide from you, but I'm in no hurry either.
