Tea's Heart - Session 2
INFO
❍ Characters are aware that Tea's heart is being threatened by CORRUPTION.
❍ If you're in the same run, you can interact!
❍ Unit abilities are MIGHT BE ON — if, and only if, Tea has seen them work or your character has explicitly told her about them — unless otherwise specified.
Nothing Up My Sleeve can't access locations outside of the heart.
❍ Canon abilities MIGHT BE ON —if, and only if, Tea explicitly knows that they're a thing — unless otherwise specified.
❍ Characters have whatever was on their person at the time, including their cell phone!
❍ Over the course of the heart, characters are very likely to be afflicted with STATUS EFFECTS. This will be OOCly determined by dice roll. You can have more than one status effect at a time, but multiples of the same don't stack.
The top levels that require a roll will have a note.
Each time you move to a different top level thereafter, you can roll 1d10 to see whether the effect lingers (1-6) or fades (7-10).
❍ Injury and death are possible.

Re: DESCENSION
(is it B? you think it's B)
the Villain whips around to keep you in sight, gun in hand, and fires off a handful of shots

"Ah ..." He smiles, shaky, blood on lips, "Sorry, I ... ..."
You try to stem the bleeding, but it's too late.
He's gone.
A gunshot shatters the window of the car you're hiding behind.

as a professional hero taking down an armed dude into custody is like, not at all difficult. if his powers work it takes like thirty seconds! ]

Inside is a crystal statue of Miya's dragon form in a defensive curl, teeth bared and ready to strike.

If you wanna talk to me about it later, I'll listen.
[ but yeah skips this one. if it doesn't have magic corruption bear trap ooze or w/e on it then he probably shouldn't be prying into her deepest trauma memories ]
Re: DESCENSION
Pain.
Blood.
And the muffled screams … desperation, terror, anger, despair, agony — and the roar of many hundreds of voices, rising and falling, sometimes in approval, sometimes in disappointment …
Until it all goes silent.
Do you go forward?

and opening the door ]
Re: DESCENSION
Your opponent stands across from you, calm and steady; it might even seem relaxed, if it wasn't for the cold, brutal focus in those alien blue eyes. It's been at this for a while if the blood spattered across its feathers, horns, and claws is any indication.
Your phone is gone.
This is not a game.
You do not remember Imeeji.
... You do have your nugs, milkshake, and jar of honey though.
Re: DESCENSION
Hawks, Professional Hero. he doesn't remember coming to a gladiator arena, but he knows this is usually not how heroes are meant to operate. so maybe this is some kind of villain trap? and he's?? carrying food but doesn't remember picking it up. but what he does know is he doesn't want to resort to violence (as a hero)(as a person)(as a representative of the HPSC) unless he has no other choice.
whatever is opposite to him is either a magic dragon of some sort (these do not exist) or someone with a really severe mutation quirk or someone whose transformation quirk has been drugged into hyperdrive or something; either way, he's pretty sure there's a good chance there's just a person under there.
so he holds his hands out in what he HOPES is a universal gesture of 'we mean no harm' and, offers up the snacks, hovering them over in feathers so his small, easily crushable body is outside of her immediate range ]
Hey, can you understand me? I don't know what's going on here, but I don't want to fight you if I don't have to. I'm a hero. I'd like to help you if I can.
Re: DESCENSION
The dragon's massive wings half unfurl, a row of deadly spiking unsheathing along either side of its tail. Its gaze is fixed upon you, unerring — you know, somehow, bone-deep, that if dragon catches you, it can and will kill you.
… Except.
As it starts to circle, slowly, each step measured, it steals the briefest of glances at the food. Like. What. What is this? What are you doing. What is that?
Re: DESCENSION
For you, if you want. I must have brought them for something like this - the big one looks like it's chicken, the other two are sweet. Like I said, I'm not here to fight. I think you and I have a common cause here.
[ gestures to the crowd ]
If we team up, we can get out of here.
Re: DESCENSION
It smells like —
Hisses low, tail lashing once.
Circling, circling. One ear is always, always on her opponent, but more and more her gaze returns to the jar, flicking from him, to it, to the jeering crowds surrounding them. They're getting impatient. They want blood, they want violence; this is boring. Kill him, Champion. Kill him, kill him, kill, kill, kill.
Back to the jar.
Back to him.
She stops circling. Her next step is towards him, direct and purposeful.
Re: DESCENSION
You don't have to kill.
Re: DESCENSION
The next time she glances towards the crowd, it's much more deliberate. Exaggerated, almost? The set of her half-furled wings may seem, to someone who actively has a pair of his own, more relaxed. Just a little. Just barely.
Or maybe that's wishful thinking.
Another step.
Re: DESCENSION
for now holding still and holding the food out;;;; as, a show of ;;;; trust;;;;; pls no eat bird ]
If we work together, we can stop this from happening. You've been here for a while, so you must have figured out if we fight each other, they win.
Re: DESCENSION
Something more swish than lash with the next sweep of the tail, the deadly spikes angled so that even if they were swung towards him, they'd bap bluntly rather than stab and rip. Which, getting hit by that absolutely could still hurt like a motherfucker.
But it seems like maybe, just maybe, the intent isn't there anymore.
The dragon blinks at him, slow, like a cat.
So on a scale of 1-10 how absolutely alarming is it when she suddenly pounces for him? Wings fully unfurled now, all 50 glorious feet of them a shield between them and the howling audience, and with 0 intention letting any of her many many kilograms crush him.
Roll 1d20 if you want to dodge. 20 to succeed.
