Mmn. It's a game about protection, in a way.
I am not sure if the tale we are telling is about us alone, or if the story refers to a people who we must prepare to defend, but it does not change the nature of the duty.

I am not sure if you ever did know, though perhaps at some point in your work as a bureaucrat you might have looked it up.

My father caused quite the scandal, you know—[ fondness, nostalgia, a touch of the sorrow of missing someone ] —when he chose her over proper noblewomen with actual titles and lands.

She was mortal, but my naginata was her life's work.

[ that is: her artifact naginata. the mix of love and grief is a little bitterer, this time. ]

...No, not in this place. Hell's craftsmen are truly gifted, it is true, but in the end they cannot make Ako— White Lily, that is. The same is true of avante's powers.

I see. That is understandable. Even if you got a perfect recreation, that is what it would be. Not the real thing, with her touch on it.

If someday I return to creation, though... [ a sense of being torn between duties ] ...perhaps I will reclaim her.
