HEARTFORGE - Heart Soldier Senshi (Session 5)

You are in the heart of a massive forge. In front of you are tools, and your objective is clear - to use them to channel the strength of your heart and create.

What are you creating? Who can say. Only you - and only you'll know if - and when, it's good enough. The stories before you are not yours right now, but you'll make them yours soon enough.

And you will survive.

Well, at least that's rather more like it. Though it certanly adds a degree of urgency mixing drinks was somewhat short of.

A weapon to defend these people...

We should choose something that can function or operate independently of us well after we are gone.

What kind of weapon were you thinking? Do we wish to go in the 'mythical blade' direction? Or would 'siege engines' prove more practical?

I have no personal experience with more advanced technological weapons which I presume this siege engine is. My own initial thought was a ballista - but your weapon sounds much more mobile and therefore preferable.

I'd be hesitant to leave behind a weapon with magical properties. Such items usually have costs associated to them and must be wielded by certain individuals.

Exactly. A mystical sword must have an equally mystical wielder. Though... doesn't this story seem to imply the existence of one? Fighting for the others, for the people who hold up their pedestal... then paying a great cost--

They could almost be describing the Warrior of Light.

It could very well be.

But in the end, we are the storytellers and therefore have some influence over the tale.

While our hero must give far beyond their means, that does not mean that in the end we cannot produce something better for the next generation.

Then we must help to share their burden. No one person should have to bear the weight of the whole world. No matter who they are - how brave, how great their gifts - nobody should ever have to feel they're fighting alone.

... I don't know what that translates into, in terms of weaponry. But it should be something that requires no uncommon strength or skill to wield.

That is why I recommended a ballista.

It does require some skill - aim, the knowledge of how to load, operate and maintain it. Though this can be mastered by many. It also requires a defensible position and those people at key points to both scout and protect the operators.

But is the skill of working together that makes it successful. Not through a single individual act.

Is your siege engine something similar?

Oh, yes! That's exactly what I was imagining, actually.

Then let us see if such a suggestion is favorable with the others.
